I am still really enjoying Mr. Love. I adore the story & the art & honestly I ended up binging reading chapters 14 and 15 last night and got a little misty eyed. Haven’t felt that way about a Visual Novel in a while.
I’m also 10 pulls away from getting to redeem a Wedding Karma, which I look forward to tomorrow (so close...). I’ll be picking Lucien because I freaking love that “Lifting the Veil 1st POV” shot. It’s so freaking pretty. T-T’
Assuming I don’t get him in that last ten pull tomorrow. Lol. We’ll see.
If I do, I might have to flip a coin between Gavin and Kiro, because I like both of them.
But. Now to talk the boys & story. I’m talking freely so...
Spoilers Below. :D
But speaking. I’m on Chapter 16. And Lucien boy. Lol. I knew this was all coming because he’s been kinda creepy and off since Day 1 but it’s still fun going through all the angst first hand.
Victor is killing me though. Lol. I started a chapter and he’s talking to the MC through a watch like “I’m 10 years in the future” and I’m like. “when...when did they establish the Watch thing.”
Either way it made me laugh.
Also I still cant’ get over his Wedding Right By Your Side thing where he calls you a “Bad Girl.” Just. VICTOR.
Over all, I kind of wish the boys got to interact more with each other. The MC is over here in mad love with all Four (as you do in this genre), but I’m missing out on the Suitors getting to “fight” with each other over her (like in Uta no Prince Sama, or even Obey Me). Despite the fact they’re all part of the same narrative, their stories and interactions with the MC still feel sort of disconnected.
I know part of that is for the romance and for whoever’s best boy to get the spotlight, but I feel that’s what Dates and the Footage shots are for. Those are the one-on-one possible happy ending things. The main story I think would benefit from more group interaction.
For example, when the MC fell off the tower after an adventure with Kiro, GAVIN SHOWED UP TO GET HER. Or Kiro showing up as Helios to Lucien/Are’s group. Or even when Victor and Lucien glared at each other.
Those are some of the best moments. I want more. Hopefully there are. *stares at story but doesn’t look up spoilers*
Anywhoo. Here’s an update on the Boys’ Status and my thoughts because WHY NOT:
Gavin: Boy is still a puppy. A kicked puppy as of that thing with the kid and finding out his entire career has been a lie and he’s been helping the death of Evil people, but still a dog.
Shaw: I finally got to his first appearance in the main story. He’s a cute “bad boy” type and I want to see him interact with Gavin more since they’re brothers. I’m very glad I got his SR card because the fact I can use it just about anywhere has been helping me out a lot on the score side of things. XD That’s not actually related to him as a character, but I see his face a lot now. Lol. So that counts. (Still need to do his “date” though.)
Kiro: Man. I have mixed feelings on Kiro. I really like him, but story wise, he feels like the one least likely to have a real chance with the MC so far and I feel bad for him. XD I get this feeling around Gavin, too, but it just feels amplified here. I’m not even sure entirely why I feel that way, but it’s there and it affects the romance aspect a bit. Maybe I need to do more of his dates. However, I am looking forward to the Helios thing coming up.
Lucien: I ship him super hard with Hades right now. I know their interactions were short and Hades is kinda trapped in the subconscious of Lucien’s dreams or whatever but Hades had a one-sided crush on Lucien for a whole chapter and I was living. Lol. Even at that last few moments of the conflict he’s like “Join me!” Lucien was holding top boy spot for a while & still is up there for being the “Evil” protagonist. He’s pressing that “Hero x Villain” ship button and I appreciate it. I know he’s not actually evil and he has genuine feelings for the MC, but still. He’s the sophisticated/clinical bad-boy of the series and I’m appreciating it. XD
Victor: He has finally taken Number One Best Boy slot. As he should have from the start. He’s still an asshole, but he’s finally wedged enough “Oh my gosh you’re adorable you prick” moments in there that he’s brought himself back into the “Super Rich Controlling CEO” trope I like most of the time.
(Look, I’ve got issues with some aspects of Fifty Shades of Grey but the base power fantasy trope of “the insanely Rich CEO with a tone of power and control issues falls for you and only you” remains good stuff.)
It took a while to get to the softer, good stuff with him, but it’s been worth it. I am looking forward to his return after the Time Travel shenanigans.
Also he threw his Wedding Karma at me in the face with a Solo Yolo and I can take a hint.
