as a fresher starting in computer science engineering..

should I get a ThinkPad T14 or smth else ??

is this decision wise, Oh! great thinkpad-official ?

(i got nobody to ask, people keep recommending me gaming laptops.. i don't even play games)

Well that depends on what kind of work you want to do on your laptop. T series ThinkPads are the flagship series, they are pretty high quality, but not too expensive, so they're great for just about everyone. The t series is usually the type of laptop that gets bought by companies for their employees.

If you want something more macbook esque, the X and X1 series might be the one for you, they are light, thinner, and expensive, the X series has a slightly smaller screen and have low power options.

The P series stands for "preformance" (i think), they are beefy, usually runs hotter, thick, and powerful. Good if you want performance above all else.

The E and L thinkpads are the cheapest thinkpads and aren't the best quality, most people don't recommend them. If you're really tight on cash, you can get these, but most people suggest getting a different laptop in a similar price range.

2 in 1 thinkpads are tablets and laptops combined, the touchscreen can be flipped over 365° and it has an integrated pen. Good if love to take handwritten notes and you can draw on it. But most people don't use the gimmick after a couple of days (And also the ThinkPad T14 gen 5 and up is really repairable (especially gen 7) which is neat) Also i generally recommend getting laptops (or just devices in general) refurbished (or second hand) and installing Linux on them ;)

Poseidon raping Medusa was not in the original story, that was added by Ovid - a Roman scholar. In the original Greek stories she was always a monster. I think it's fair to criticize Zeus and his assault of his lovers but there ARE versions of Medusa and Poseidon during the time of the myths being made that are consensual.

yeah so there’s a difference between greek mythology (no mention of force in any instance) and roman literature (ovid’s metamorphoses being the first to feature sexual assault in the story of medusa) but the thing about mythology is that there’s hundreds of versions of every story. despite ovid being roman metamorphoses is a largely sourced collection because of its widespread prevalence in terms of ancient literature, and the fact that it does contain the first known written versions of a lot of greek stories that were not preserved by greek authors, like arachne—virgil only hinted at a history between athena and spiders. metamorphoses is treated as a source by modern classicists because it’s encyclopedic and circulated widely throughout latin-european cultures for centuries. hesiod may not have written about a sexual assault, but ovid did, and that’s the version that medieval european classicists studied. when it comes to mythology the “original” version of a story matters much less than the version everyone knows.

Hello Linnea! I thought to ask you this on Instagram, but it seems you'd have to invite me first for a chat. How do you draw so dynamically? I can't pinpoint it directly, but when it comes to vines and trees it looks very accurate to real life. Is it often refrenced or do you do this in flow? I ask as a fellow artist to establish communication and to learn from you. Your work is so simple yet vast and that's what I hope to establish... Without the use of too much rendering to convey information.

when it comes to plants & such I usually do a light bit of referencing if drawing a specific species. but I also do a lot of observational sketching of like roadside plants & resort palms & all that, so I like to think I've built a pretty large mental inventory of plant/organic shapes if that makes sense. re: rendering, I think it helps to take a step back & think of an image almost as an abstract composition & how adding more detail in an area vs leaving it blank would affect that? which is easier to do in illustration vs in comics since a comics panel usually has stuff that HAS to be there in order for it to make narrative sense.

when a friend or a coworker (someone that you've known for quite a while and not just an acquaintance) says something upsetting to you unintentionally, how do you usually react to that?

hmm i think this relates a good deal to the question i received the other day about whether or not i'm a 'stern' person. my skin isn't as thin as it used to be and i generally find it's harder to upset me than you might think, i can't really recall a time that this happened recently. more often than not my feeling upset by something tends to be at least semi-irrational, which doesn't negate the feeling but once i've sat with it for a bit I can usually see whatever narrative i was forming in my head about it and i find it's helpful to explain that narrative to whoever hurt you, with a level head. it's helpful to you and that person to understand why certain things upset you the way they do. that way you can express that you understand what they said wasn't intentional, no one is getting blamed, it's just hard being a person with thoughts in your head sometime, ya know. but i find it's important to take that time and really observe the root of the hurt before you bring it to the person who hurt you.
