Sometimes I'll be in therapy and I'll say something and realize (again) why I always liked Gonzo and Kermit best.

Kermit is what I aspire to and what I am desperately trying to present to the world. Gonzo is who I really am internally.

Kermit: creates order in the face of chaos, responsible, organized, patient, understanding, upstanding, respectable, good-natured, supports cooperation, loses his cool but pulls himself back together, sympathetic but not a pushover, incredible capable, courageous, hopeful.

Gonzo: fuckin' weirdo who likes tutti-frutti tuna-flavored yogurt and wears shirts printed with chili peppers.

'Only young people have depression/get fatalistic humor' is such an annoying Tumblr (American?) thing. My mom was much more prone to gallows humor than I was, and I've seen countless middle-aged/old people with severe depression who are unable to receive help because they're so poor they're barely able to make ends meet (and old people especially are seen as no longer worth caring about because "they'll die soon anyway", which is reflected in the way doctors treat them). But sure, let's erase their suffering because it makes us millenials feel less Tragically Special.
