*Sighs for the rest of the week*

Quoting myself from my FB post 45 min ago.
As someone who, like Connor, stims, this is really upsetting. Video was hard to watch.
Definition of stimming is as follows:
Self-stimulatory behavior, also known as stimming and self-stimulation, is the repetition of physical movements, sounds, or repetitive movement of objects common in individuals with developmental disabilities, but most prevalent in people with autism spectrum disorders.
Connor stims by flicking a piece of string/yarn in front of his face =/= inhalant drug user, Officer Grossman...
I really hoped with the fading fad of the fidget spinners (at least among kids who saw and used them as toys), there would be at least some more knowledge about self-stimulation, who does it, and what it can encompass. How individuals stim. And more acceptance for it. I happily answer questions about what I've got in my pockets from co-workers at DI, and I happily answered questions people had during the Thursday night gatherings for Institute and Pathways.
But: Maybe it's too soon for that wider spread of knowledge about stimming, fidgeting, whatever *whoever* calls it.
Future *Frost: Your homework is to think about how much that's changed in a year when this shows up in your F.B. Memories. Hopefully there's progression, not regression.
