i had some wacky experiences w sorting out my insurance for the coming year and i feel compelled to talk about it to keep as a reference for me or anyone else but i keep coming to the conclusion of this is stupid, why do we even have to do this, it should be free for everyone, blow it all up

but yeah like, when i started a new job this year they spoke positively of the benefits so originally i signed up thru them, it seemed a lil pricey but i didn’t have the energy to think about it, so i was like whatever, but as it got late in the year i properly looked into it and it turns out it was significantly more expensive than coverage thru the ACA and covered LESS.

fortunately i managed to cancel it and stay on ACA coverage, so i guess the lesson here is if ur job offers you some kind of health benefit, make sure to compare it to what u get thru the aca to see if it’s actually worth it

and like i know we’re all poor here on tumblr and assume we can’t afford insurance, but in general i have to recommend to the youth to at least check on healthcare.gov to see what you might qualify for. if you make in the realm of 20k-30k a year it knocks quite a bit off the price. my experiences might be different bc where i live but i was able to get an affordable plan w a lot of free pcp and urgent care visits and affordable specialist visits. set the filters to $0 deductible and $50 (or whatever you can afford monthly) premium and see what it offers you.

picking a plan is stupid complicated but generally a lot of plans in a general price range will flux by a few dollars and change the price of visits/meds accordingly. generally if you pay more monthly, the price of copays and meds go down, but the benefits are usually the same. it’s on you to figure out what’s the best value

yeah it’s all stupid and would be fixed by just making it free for everyone but it’s worth looking into. ok thank u for letting me soapbox good day

okay again mostly for my own reference my opinion on devine channel’s work

night - taeyeon (neutral) (chill? very zico but with fewer interesting things going on. i wouldn’t skip it but i wouldn’t go looking for it either.)

monodrama - lay (neutral) (some interesting things going on and i enjoyed listening to it but i wasn’t like hopping out of my seat)

fire - bts (neutral) (positive) (more neutral than positive - it’s the fake tempo change at the end that tipped the scales for me. that rescued the song for me. moreover, the change and the overall feel of the song, even though it was an edm song, felt very bts, which gives me hope for fantasy? i don’t want a copy paste of whatever sm is doing, i want this to sound like the vixx i fell in love with. this team seems flexible, at least.)

french kiss - hyuna (positive) (i may just have a real weakness for hyuna but i liked how sly and heavy this track was. not entirely original but it’s something i could dance to.)

blind - 4minute (positive) (despite the fact that i could probably make the midtone tracks myself on beatwave i... well, i have beatwave downloaded for a reason lmao. OH this is another track that does sound very 4minute despite having very heavy edm overtones, which is another point in devine channel’s favor. this is probably my favorite track out of the new ones i’ve listened to so far.)

cut it out - 4minute (positive) (same deal as blind except i like this one a bit less? it’s a bit less cohesive... which was sort of the point of the crazy album tbh LMAO)

red - jonghyun (neutral) (I HAD TO BE REALLY HONEST WITH MYSELF i love jonghyun most than most people)

hallelujah - jonghyun (positive) (although i think that has more to do with jonghyun’s skill as a vocalist than the production work? still, an enthusiastic positive is an enthusiastic positive.)

sleepless night - shinee (neutral) (shows off the vocalists well but the track itself... just kind of there?)

tender love - exo (positive) (okay i was about to roll my eyes and give this a neutral but then it fell off its new jack swing formula near the middle and went somewhere weird. and i liked it? not here for yet another swingy track but i have to give it credit for surprising me in a good way.)

el dorado - exo (negative) (god i just cannot deal with this song... i’m sorry lmao i just can’t take it seriously.)

baby don’t cry - exo (neutral) (i’m.......... intensely neutral on this one it’s just not bad lol)

mama - exo (MAAAA MAAAA MAAAA) (i would give an intelligent opinion of mama but... it’s mama.)

electric shock - f(x) (neutral) (like i don’t HATE it but f(x) did red light and rum pum pum like how is anything else supposed to compare)

steppin’ - tvxq (positive) (BLESS MY DEARLING YUNHO you still can’t rap but this is genuinely cute. again, chameleon adaptability from devine channel here; this is definitely a tvxq track and i appreciate that.)

humanoids - tvxq (positive) (1. again, this is a really REALLY tvxq track and i am liking that proof of adaptability; 2. is THIS what my other loveys have been up to lol... well... glad to see some things don’t change, i loved tvxq back in the day for a reason; 3. this track definitely holds a lot of interest and potential to me, probably the most out of all of the ones i’ve heard so far.) (i still like blind better.)

final verdict: 41% neutral, 47% positive, 6% negative, 6% MAAAA MAAAA MAAAA. i... i think i’ll be okay with whatever comes out?

(okay real concerns.

the results might be a bit skewed because..... i find exo boring most of the time LOL. i might just have to think positive on this one becaaaause

looking over this makes me feel as though this team at least knows how to tailor their distinctive sort of fuzzy edm with whomever they’re working for? it’s not my favorite sound but it’s not terrible either.

please for the love of god i am begging on my knees please don’t make them do that super boring poorly mixed unison chorus in el dorado i swear nothing will turn me off more!!! if you’re gonna do mixing like that at least make the layering interesting and technically impeccable, like on and on’s chorus, which was really really fucking good.

i heard exactly 0 uses of a bass range in all of these songs which concerns and alarms me because hongbin and ravi are some of the best bass assets vixx has and are a part of their signature sound, give me bass lines in vixx songs or give me death

in general, clean, well constructed chords in their choruses, full stops, the richest fucking instrumentation on the P L A N E T, and bass tones tend to be vixx’s wheelhouse, and these aren’t easy things to accomplish. i REALLY hope this team knows what its doing

#please note that i'm listening to the majority of these for the first time #lots of first impressions here #i think if this team is going to skimp on anything it's going to be the level of backing instrumentation because what this team tends to do #is very simple #and like... i guess i'm worried? even voodoo which had a very simple backing at times made it interesting w the fake meter changes #but i'm nitpicking by now i don't think it'll be awful at least
