I like this discussion here where Manis works up the fact that the Jewish ppl, as prophesied by Moses, would undergo constant genocide by their enemies, which only GOD could protect them from extinction but while they are being kicked from pillar to post the effect is shifting their perspective away from living to accumulate or benefit only themselves. But if you read the article clippings from 1920's you see a clear narrative of how their neighbours were envious over how much GOD had already blessed them with, kind of like when they left Egypt with the family heirlooms of their slave masters. If we pay attention to the chatter after Oct.7, the reason they were so taken aback is bc they were living in relative peace for the last 50 yrs.
