Cody wants a fight buddy to spar with rather than his dad and everyone who keeps trying to kill him.

Cody has a bad grade in PE, but only because he can't risk trying hard and accidentally revealing the god-tier physical abilities he has as a reptilian.

Whenever Fernando or Esteban used to do the laundry and dry the clothes he would run over and bury himself in whatever came out of the dryer. He's actually tried to warm himself up by sleeping in the clothes dryer (albeit unsuccessfully), but still does it occasionally.

Every time Cody goes into the woods he finds at least one mouse and brings it home in his hoodie pocket to keep it.

The main reason Cody doesn't eat humans is because he doesn't have a sense of taste. Well, that and he's a nice reptile boi.

Both Cody and David read warrior cats, but no one knows Cody does. So whenever David makes a reference or he sees a cat he just sort of fanboys silently. (This one is also based off of a quote from @incorrect-lalins-curse

David: I remembered some of my dream last night, and man, that was just a total Jayfeather experience.

Felix has three of the same jacket just in case something happens to one of them.

Felix's sleep paralysis demon is Eric in a yellow jump suit rolling back in forth in front of the door in heelies singing the ghostbusters theme song.

The only thing Felix puts effort into ever is piano. So in 2017 near the end of highschool (that time frame is a rough estimate don't quote me on that) when Eric asked him to learn Megalovania he learned it in all 12 keys, and can also play it 1950's swing, Major key, waltz, as a Russian anthem, and fluently combined with Despacito.

Before it rains or storms Felix goes outside to make sure the nearby crows have sufficient shelter, and they don't he brings them home or coaxes them near some sort of shelter.

Every night, Felix tries to tell both David and Eric around midnight that he's going to be asleep so that way they don't send him confusing or cryptic texts at 3 A.M.

Felix was one time asked to dog-sit Coco, and he spent a good hour trying to teach her how to kill cats on sight before feeling like it was too much effort.

The crows Felix has taken care of before recognize him as a good birdy boi, and come and greet him if they see him.

Despite him not trying very hard in school, Felix is quite smart. When him and David were making that video game back in 2010, David was mostly in charge of characters, story, and world building, and Felix was mostly in charge of coding and all the technical stuff.

One halloween when he was little his parents let him dress up as a crow, and Felix didn't take off the costume for a week.

Welcome back to the Lalin’s Curse breakdown! Let’s not beat around the bush and pick up right where we left off.

It’s Sunday night so Cuarta Dimensions is on. And the interviewee is none other than Monica, the reporter who ventured into the woods in the first episode. After she mentions paranormal activity in Lalin, we get our first visuals of the murder. The female witness is terrified, and we see a bloody hand that presumably belongs to the ‘demon.’ Take note, this is the demon's left hand, not his right hand. The small figure has red eyes, horns, tail, and is standing over the victim. And still, we never see his right hand.

Cool, we got the details out of the way. It’s basically been confirmed that the demon in the woods is Cody. His reptilian appearance in episodes 16+ as well as flashbacks from when he went to retrieve the hand proves this. The shot of the murder we get in episode 1 is painted as a picture of the witness’s interpretation. This means that details like us never seeing the ‘demon’s’ right hand may be inaccurate if you think around it realistically. However, in a comic artist has the ability to add important details even to things like flashbacks that may be unreliable in real life.

We see a lot of blood, and most of it appears to be on Cody’s left hand and the large wound near the heart. Not many other injuries are visible except a few lacerations on the victim’s arms, and most of the blood on Cody does not appear to be his. However, we do know that both murderer and victim likely sustained injuries due to the evidence of a fight (slashes on the fallen log).

If you jump ahead to the end of episode 5 when the boys find the rotting hand in the woods, the thumb is on the right side, meaning this is a right hand. 

We never see Cody’s right hand in the flashback. I think this means it’s quite possible that the hand is his. In episode 19 when Cody and the two reptilian kidnappers are fighting, the tall one (which @Incorrect-Lalin’s-Curse has affectionately dubbed bean pole, thank you) says that ‘this mother f***er killed one of us. 

The victim was also a reptilian, just like David initial proposed in episode 13. This means that it is quite possible that Cody got his hand mangled off. I mean, look at the place where than hand would normally attach to an arm! That is definitely not a clean cut, and probably hurt a lot. Poor baby gecko boy ;-;

But this could also not be Cody’s hand. The scale color doesn’t quite match, although, the hand could be discolored from rotting for a while.

As David asks Felix excitedly about the demons and murder, Felix's reaction seems quite normal. He tells David that all this is ridiculous, which is normal for a skeptic such as him. However, in his first two reaction panels, cover up his mouth. It helps you see the expression in a character’s eyes better. Personally I think that for someone who believes so strongly that paranormal phenomena do not exist, he seems worried. This theory is more based on a gut feeling than logic, so I doubt it quite a bit. 

However, in Delete David and Felix have a supernatural experience with a demon, which David does not remember. However, I think Felix remembers the demon and actually believed (if only even a little bit) that the supernatural is real. The reason he may so strongly voice his skeptical viewpoint may be to protect David from finding something dangerous. However, this theory is not likely in my opinion.

Next, David and Felix discover that the camera David found must be Monica’s camera. Here’s where stuff gets hecka wack. David puts the SD card in his computer, and it appears to be working. We get two files on the SD card:

Using this information, we can figure out the current date, how long it’s been since the murder, and when Monica entered the woods. In the next episode, David marks his calendar off on Monday, September 10th. This makes tonight the 9th. 96 days left until the end of the world and aliens (more on that in the Episode 2 breakdown). This means it’s been around 1.5 weeks since Monica went into the woods. This places the timeframe for the murder anywhere from 2-5 weeks ago. A bit of a broad range, but I think it’s best to not try and get too specific on that date.

The NoName.mp4 file is a one hour black video. This means logically that the camera was in fact running for an hour, but all the footage was either ruined, or the camera captured absolutely nothing. Given the fact that there was 1.5ish weeks in between the recording date and when David finds the camera, that’s more than enough time for Cody, a reptilian, or someone else to mess with the footage.

Now let’s talk about the cursed file. The spoopy one: w?%:?V=???L    05/06/1998

David notes that the file dates back to 1998, which is super weird. And it also happens to be their birth year. At the time of May 6, the only members of the squad alive are Felix and Tobias. There appears to be nothing special about the date at all, rather than that’s their birth year.

I went and did tons of research, and the only sources I could find were in Icelandic or Slovak, so this tangent ended up being a dead end. Back to the story. David clicks on the file, and the power goes out. How did this happen? There’s a couple options here. Option one, the file was cursed. Option two, someone or something cut the power to prevent David from accessing whatever was on that file.

But as far as who is potentially responsible for the ruined footage and corrupted file, we need to know who could’ve broken the camera. It could’ve been Cody. Not only has he proven willing to commit sabotage in order to protect the secret existence of reptilians but he was with Monica and therefore near her camera at some point.

Or, it could've been the mysterious shadow person from Episode 0… who could also just be Cody. Or perhaps another reptilian? Or another being entirely?

I believe the other-worldy shadow person theory makes the most sense. It seems the most plausible explanation for the power outage. Not only that, but it seems a ‘shadowy figure’ seems to haunt David’s house. In episode 15 when David is thinking about how everyone tells him he’s imagining it all, we see him as a young child running to his mother because he saw a shadow making scary noises. This and Sofia’s statement about the ‘shadow’ responsible for David’s bruises makes it likely that some sort of spooky being likes to hang about the household. And when the power shuts off, Coco starts barking. Now, what can usually see spooky paranormal beings? Children and animals. Coco may have been barking in warning to whatever shadowy being was snooping around the house.

There’s not much that happens after that, soo…

This episode was packed full of information, mostly regarding David’s kidnappers and David. Why are they kidnapping him? What’s up with David’s newfound telekinetic powers? Let’s talk about that second one first.

One of my earlier theories touches on David perhaps being alien or part-alien. Amber eyes are often linked to or associated with alien DNA, and David’s official eye color (according to the author’s reference and Wikipedia page) is Amber. Telekinesis like David has recently exhibited also seems to be an ability commonly associated with aliens (e.g. Roswell New Mexico).

There are multiple types of recorded aliens, so I started by going through a list of extra terrestrial beings and looking through their information.

Let’s start with the Flatwood monster. (Even if this alien does not end up applying to David, this information could be valuable later on in the story.) According to Wikipedia, these monsters are reported to have been sighted in West Virginia. Meaning it's already unlikely that this type of Alien applies to David, due to the story taking place in Northern Spain. (Side tangent, The only reptilian type reported to live in the continent of Eurasia are Nagarians, so a theory about this and how it relates to Cody will be published later on)

This creature was said to have crashed down to earth, and is around 10 feet tall. There is not not much information on this creature or what abilities it may have, so let's move on.

Now for one of the more commonly known types of Aliens, the Greys (also spelled Grays in American English). These aliens are shorter than the average human, around 3-4 feet in height. They are bald with characteristic grey skin, large heads, and large, dark, eyes. They have only 3 or 4 fingers (including a opposable thumb) and slits for ears; as well as nostrils but no true nose.

These aliens are also referred to as ‘Zeta Reticulans’, which indicates that they originate from around a Star in the wide binary star system Zeta Reticuli (39.17 light years away from earth) These are one of the most common aliens, as 43% of all reported alien encounters describe these beings.

It is claimed by abductees that Greys possess some ability to induce hallucinations upon those they abduct. This happens by staring into the eyes of their abductee.

According to some ufologists, the Greys tampered with our society by genetically engineering or even cross breeding humans long ago. It is also theorized that the Greys wanted to influence humanity more towards a direction similar to themselves, and used their own DNA as well in the process of breeding humans. (You got lucky, I almost rambled on about Greys and their possible plots to take over humanity. But that’s for another time)

With this information, it is possible that David carries genetic traits that originate from the original genetic experimentation of the Greys.

In fact, there is actually a term for these kids: Hybrid Children.

Hybrid children are beings with a combination of Zeta Reticulan DNA and human DNA. They are supposed to originate from a different dimension, and join earth to spread their genetics and unite aliens and humans. It is said that when they dream, they have the ability to shift dimensions. This makes it highly likely that David is a Hybrid Child. Whenhe dreams, he appears shifts from a physical dimension to a supernatural one. This would explain how when he woke up after his nightmare the bruises remained on his arms.

In conclusion, it is highly likely that David is a Hybrid Child. Now, let’s talk about David’s kidnappers. (To prevent this post being too long, I am publishing a part two in which I will discuss what the Reptilians and police may want with David.)

Hello all, and welcome back to the theory hole! It’s time for the breakdown of episode 1 of Lalin’s Curse. This episode starts off with David running home after a night of stargazing and UFO hunting. Once he gets home, his mom asks him if he realized how late it was going.

Okay, let’s pause here. This theory is building and discussing a theory by @Hi¡ Ya! on Amino. (You can go read their theory here https://aminoapps.com/c/lalins-curse/page/blog/lalins-cursed-files-davids-mother/7VGN_8phPua20ekvoe7a4xvmW1mk2ggVew)

The theory is that David’s mother has a curfew in place for David, which is why she keeps checking up on him and seems quite nervous when he gets home so late at night. (Spoiler alert for ep. 20 and Delete!) We know in Delete that David was suicidal, and tried to end his life by jumping off a bridge. (Gosh that one panel in Ep. 20 really pulled my heartstrings super hard agh-) Naturally, this is a huge cause for concern for David’s parents. I think the theory that David’s mother always checks up on him late at night to make sure he’s okay makes a lot of sense, and her motherly concern may also explain her initial reaction to David’s bruises in Ep. 10.

Alright, we’ve got that little thing checked off, let’s move on. Here Cuarta Dimensions is introduced as well as David’s fear of ghosts and spooky paranormal stories. If you didn’t know already, Cuarta Dimensions is a reference to a Spanish TV show called Cuarta Milenio that discusses paranormal topics like ghosts and Ufology. It’s not a theory, but a cool thing worth mentioning.

Several flashbacks in Ep. 15 reinforce the idea that David is afraid of paranormal activity. (Runs crying to his mother, is quite spooked when he comes in saying things about lights in the backyard.) I find it quite interesting that even though David fears the supernatural, he is still passionate about it and pursues it to prove that he’s not imagining things.

Another thing to note about David’s character, is that he seems quite organized! When we first get a look at his room, the first thing I notice is that all his books are organized, and nothing is really messy at all. It’s been stated before that Tobi, even though he has glasses, is not the cliche ‘nerd with glasses who is the smart one of the group.’ It’s not hard to imagine that David is the intellectual of the friend group. He clearly puts a lot of effort into his research on ufology, has created a video game before, and can be seen helping Tobias with some schoolwork in Ep. 3.

Upon further inspection of his room, I spotted something. A blue butterfly is visible on a green poster in the top right corner of his room. At first I doubted if it was really a blue butterfly, but if you scroll further in the comic that’s clearly what it is. This blue butterfly follows David around quite a bit during the comic, so let’s talk about that.

Blue butterflies are said to symbolize happiness and joy. (which is great because everyone just wants David to be happy. Please give him many blue butterflies.) They are also said to represent a spirit or soul undergoing a period of change or growth. Overall, blue butterflies have a very positive connotation. Sometimes they can be linked to sadness due to their blue colors, but overall are related to happiness.

David’s butterfly is also seen in his dream world, but since that’s in a later episode we can talk about that then. For now, let’s just remember the basics of blue butterflies.

Felix asks David about what kind of stuff he’s been drawing. We see a flying saucer, a couple of orange aliens, and a sketch of Valor from Delete. There’s also some writing up top, which I have gone ahead and translated.

Translation: Aliens change color when coming into contact with earth’s oxygen.

This is a nice opportunity to touch on why Greys (grey aliens that hail from near the star Zeta Reticuli) may change color. Well first off, these aliens are grey. Like iron. What happens when iron oxidizes? It turns reddish orange. My theory (without doing any research, I'm theorizing on the fly) is that iron is a major component of the Grey’s epidermal (outer skin) or some sort of dermal layer that oxidizes easily in earth’s atmosphere. This may be because of compounds that absorb or bond easily with oxygen in the skin of a Grey, or because they have sensitive and absorbent skin. (Similar to amphibians like salamanders?)

Whenever the lights flicker or something falls unexpectedly, David’s first reaction is to think that the ghosts are having a good time.

Because David has a good memory, he’s basically a human textbook. So whenever his friends need homework help he can practically cite back the entire lesson from earlier at school.

David is a good little budding artist boi, and often doodles on his school papers. It really annoys his Spanish teacher, but his geometry teacher finds it interesting and adorable.

Nina likes horror movies, and even though they terrify David, he forces himself to watch them to ‘better his educational understanding of the supernatural.’

He actually kinda sucks at video games, but plays them anyways because it’s fun.

All of David’s methods for UFO hunting come from a WikiHow. (Specifically this one https://m.wikihow.com/Become-a-UFO-Hunter, he probably just translated it with Google Translate or something.)

The only correct method of listening to a song for him is listening to it over and over again until it makes him physically sick.

David is so, so, so horribly bad at poker. He knows Cody is good at it, and always ends up enthusiastically shows his cards to everyone but Cody. Which, really just tips him off anyways
