"Harellin, your first task as apprentice demon expert is to go into your garden and pick the herbs you think would be best suited, to aid in battle against a despair demon. I'll grade your efforts using... Stars! People love getting stars for doing good jobs, right? I believe in you, Harellin! <333 "
Harellin looked blankly at the woman for a few precious moments, before he shrugged and with an ‘as you will’ he left to score his garden. He was not his sister. He would not start a useless fight with a Forgotten One, over something has harmless, as this. She did establish herself as the Inquisition’s demon expert after all. He just did not quite understand, what made her think, that he was her apprentice, when he literally has just walked in to spy on her under the guise of offering her tea.
After ten minutes he returned to her office with a basket full of dried herbs. He wouldn’t cut his still growing fresh plants for what seems to just be a simple test. One by one, he put the different bundles on her table, while explaining his choices.
“Rashvine is always a good choice, against anythin’ with a skin. Even despair demons can’t help feeling the itch eventually. Arbor Blessing, when chewed, has a calming effect and can counter any bad effects of nightmare spells and raise the spirits. Witherstalk can be used for warmin’ draughts, while most folks rather use it in bedrooms, it can also be useful in the aftermath of a battle to treat any frostbite, caused by the demon’s ice spells. Ghoul’s Beard can cause spontaneous combustion if consumed, but if diluted appropriately, it can have a warming effect from the inside, that can be used as a preventive method against aforementioned frostbite.”
Once, he was done explaining, he looked at her with that same blank expression, as before, still unsure where this was all going to lead.
“There. Does this satisfy?”
