ajax x wyll thoughts? ajax x wyll thoughts? spare some for the needy....blease.... 👐

HIIII i am always thinking about them at any given moment so yes i have plenty to spare :3c

because im writing their act 1 fic, ive been mulling over their starting dynamic. in which ajax is an oathbreaker desperate to find direction, and finds it in wyll. and very quickly, wyll's word becomes ajax's law.

i always think about when wyll says they should take down priestess gut right then and there, in the middle of the sanctum, ajax follows his word without hesitation. and it works out quite well for both of them until the fated encounter with karlach, and again, without hesitation, ajax cuts her down.

and honestly at first, it was really hard to justify that decision in a watsonian sense! but i think ajax wholeheartedly believes when wyll says "you served zariel, that's enough to damn you". and so even after finding out she's just a tiefling, ajax really believes that they did the right thing. she was still an archdevil's soldier. she was still in the blood war. tainted by the hells. etc.

which is a pretty fucked up thing to say and i think wyll would call him out on that. what about him? he made a deal with a devil, does that make him just as bad? should that be grounds to cut him down too, as per ajax's laws?

ajax would say: "that's different. im sure you had your reasons."

"and i do." he pauses. doesn't elaborate. "she probably did, too." she couldn't elaborate on that, now.

ALL THAT is to say. for act 1, ajax unwittingly puts wyll on an infallible pedestal because of his lack of oath. k's death really shows the glaring flaw in that dynamic. and from there, ajax starts to see things differently, in a less black and white manner. sees him as a person and not just some figure he could throw his dogged paladin loyalty towards

on the other hand, i think wyll would recognize the suppressed righteous rage in ajax, as someone who feels the same heated indignation. i think that would be one of the reasons wyll persists that ajax could become a better person. self recognition through the other, etc. and honestly, he wouldn't blame ajax at all on k's AND alfira's death. wyll would blame himself for both instances.

Wrong. And wrong again. Paper crumpled, charcoal smudged, one hand heavy and aching, the other still a fist wrapped around the ghost of Graham's collar, both trembling in the wick-thin light of the guttering candle.

Another sketch. Another scowl. Tore the page from his sketchbook, tossed it aside, and tried again.

Grapes on the vine turned to strips of whipped, peeling skin.

"Sosiel..." Eyes like his own that he could not recognize no matter how many times he drew them, dredging warmth up from the recesses of his memories only for it to turn cold at the tips of his fingers. Again, again, again, he had to get it right-- "Sosiel."

Kyr's voice was sharper the second time, but it was his hands that broke Sosiel from his stupor, palms cool against the fever pitch of his cheeks. Sosiel blinked, and suddenly he was in the study again. In his body. Sore from base of his skull to his knuckles to the pit of his empty stomach, stiff even in his thoughts as he looked up at the Knight Commander.

"What is all this?"

Sosiel realized for the first time that he had destroyed half his sketchbook in one sitting, desk and floor alike littered with his failed attempts.

He shuddered.

"A foolish endeavor, nothing more."

Kyr glanced down at the last thing Sosiel had drawn: a man whose smile had become a snarl despite his every effort.

"Your brother?"

"Trever..." Sosiel couldn't say his name in anything other than a whisper, the kind of frightened prayer that came at the end of the world. "A-as best I can remember him, but I can't... I see him so clearly in my mind's eye, as the good, kind man I knew him to be, and yet every time I try to draw him, the image is distorted. As if my hand knows that it is a lie. And now when I try to think of him, it all blurs together. Everything that the Hellknight told us, all that vile cruelty taints my memories."

He spoke faster and faster, as if trying to catch up to that memory of Trever before it slipped from his fingers entirely, words and images spilling.

"If I forget him now," tears bleeding together, suddenly slow, "the only thing left will be a monster."

And Kyr. Aeon. Judge. A dhampir fit for hating other monsters. Would do his duty if they found him.

And would that not be justice?

"It will not be the only thing." There was something in Kyr's voice. A slight, hesitant quiver against his usual dry deliberation. "Remember what Halaseliax told us: as long as someone is alive, they can still change. Trever still has that. Will always have that. The possibility for redemption."

Whatever Sosiel had been expecting Kyr to say to comfort him--perhaps nothing at all, perhaps his wounds were not worth tending, made to be borne alone--it was not that.

Not after Kyr had warred with himself so bitterly just to let one cultist leave Terendelev's lair.

Sosiel looked up at him through watery eyes. "Do you really believe that?"

Surely you of all people must believe that we can all change for the better.

I have not changed.

"Yes." Kyr's thumb traced the tears along Sosiel's cheekbone. "I am trying to. Believe. In this, in second chances and salvation and choosing to be better. We will give Trever that chance when we find him."

These sketches--messy, brutal, unforgiving toward subject and artist alike--had made for poor worship of Shelyn. As, it seemed, did most of Sosiel's drawings these days, dwelling on the mutated flesh of Areelu's lab and the Ivory Sanctum. Whatever faith he still nurtured, a seedling of beauty tucked away, preserved but hidden, it flourished now. Not as any fruit or flower, something that would inevitably spoil and rot, but evergreen, pine needles all the more beautiful for the snow their boughs supported.

"Thank you..." Sosiel's voice broke with his body, unable to sit upright any longer. He crushed himself against Kyr instead, too feverish for his usual worries about impropriety. Instinctive, safe, hopeful as he nuzzled the other man's chest. Listened to that death-slow pulse beneath his shuddering. "Thank you, thank you."

It took a moment--it always did--but Kyr wrapped his arms around him and held him tight. "You're welcome."

larian's treatment of wyll is so beyond frustrating and disappointing. i really hope lighting into them on social media and feedback forms does *something*...there's no possible excuse for it, imo.

but in the meantime, what new franchises did you start? 👀 i hope you enjoy 💚

My understanding is that Rutherford made quick work of our efforts in Sahrnia. Embarrassing, frankly, since our intelligence suggests he’s not as capable as he once was and likely no longer takes lyrium. It should not have been so easy for him to make his way through our ranks, much less do so successfully.

They’ll make another move, and fast, if my intuition is correct. If Ellinor the Inquisitor doesn’t know I’m working with you, she will soon. And she’ll have plans to strike again. She won’t be able to resist, and that will as always be her undoing. Let me meet her. Let me go to the Shrine of Dumat and deal with her, once and for all. The men you sent to the Emerald Graves, the Forbidden Oasis—all of them have failed. She’s not especially strong, nor is she well trained in arms. There’s no reason why she should remain such a threat to our work. All she has is spite, and a weak-willed former member of the Order working as her dog. The time for playing games is over. I’ll take care of it. Apparently, I’m the only one here who knows how.

I don’t care if she’s 26 years old. I don’t care if she’s the leader of the damned Inquisition. She’s an insolent brat and a thorn in our side. And with all due respect, if none of the other officers have the backbone to eliminate her and Rutherford, let me handle it. It’s not as if I haven’t dealt with her before. Subduing her should be simple enough, and then we can deliver her to Corypheus.

3. What’s one skill your character really wishes they had?

Dan Hyun wants to dance, really really badly. She's very heavy-footed, can even be gawky at times. She watches Thane dance and wants to be like him more than anything! The good thing is that a bit of his fluidity rubs off on her. Instead of sharp turns, her steps have a bit more spin to them, and even the way she picks up pens and presses buttons starts to have an elegant flick. She still steps on his toes sometimes but her passion and love for dancing override any momentary discomfort Thane might feel. Plus, he's the only one that doesn't make her feel silly when she dances. His skill makes up for the gap and he plays so well off of her that even though Dan Hyun's still not a great dancer, he makes her feel like one :^) And that's what matters.

21. How does your character decide if a person is mature or not?

With how well they speak. Dan Hyun puts a lot of weight on social graces, so someone who swears often or is unable to be diplomatic is someone who is immature. It's why she herself rarely swears, and when she does she finds it as some kind of relief even if it's a bit embarrassing if others overhear her. It's also why she sometimes elects to hold her tongue, for fear of sounding foolish or unrefined.

54. What kind of weather do they like best? How do they enjoy that weather?

She has come to love storms. Though nothing beats the warmth of sun on her skin, growing up on Trident meant finding peace in ravaging weather. A lot of it comes from the fact that she could feel unaffected by the storm a majority of the time. Flooding was common so the conservatory dome stayed closed. She would watch the tide swell above her head while protective glass ensured she could watch the electrifying water without a single drop touching her. During these times, Dan Hyun would like to lay back in the middle of the conservatory plaza and watch the water swallow the dome. Sometimes, her parents would come across her on their way back from the lab. Her Appa would always tell her she's going to get her hair dirty and encourage her to come in, but her Eomma would simply roll her eyes and sit for a few minutes, pointing out the various wildlife that would swim against the glass. That's what Dan Hyun remembers most. Now, any time there's a storm, she parks herself by a window, staring. Sometimes, she'll open the window to catch a rain drop or two, but more often than not she'll find herself drifting off to sleep. Rainstorms make her tired.

60. Have they ever committed a crime, or something they felt was wrong? What was it?

LMAO YEAH. Well ok. Specific to Dan Hyun who commits crimes on the daily, something she did that she later felt wrong and unsettled about was letting Doctor Droyas go in ME1. She hadn't felt like she could be responsible for taking her life, and her reasons for being there as wanting to cure the genophage muddled Dan Hyun's decision-making. Ultimately she hoped (guiltily) that the bomb she set on Virmere would end up killing her-- that God would make a decision she couldn't.

When she ran into her in ME2 at Okeer's laboratory, she was overcome by rage. Kaidan had died on Virmire, but this unethical scientist who had tortured and harmed how many people, was alive? In the heat of her aggression, she shoved her gun into Droyas' jaw. The flare of Dan Hyun's biotics provided the spark a loose bullet needed to fire into Droyas, tearing through her brain and killing her. Dan Hyun couldn't believe it when it happened and dropped down quickly to apply medigel, spilling its contents with shaking hands and cursing up a storm.

Behind her, Jack told her to let it go. That the scientist deserved it. Dan Hyun agreed, but the question weighed on her mind later: did she deserve to carry that burden?

It's a death she guiltily slinks back to again and again and she'll never know if she was right.

86. Do they have anything that they consider a good luck charm?

The closest thing is her Eomma's earring. :) But I think it's less good luck and more a way to keep her identity close to her heart. Dan Hyun is very rooted in her history: She never wants to forget where she came from, and she considers her family in almost everything she does. She's hardly able to wear it during her tenure as a SPECTRE because it could injure her or she could lose it! For luck, she relies on her faith in divine power and intervention.
