Did @feynites just tag me in a thing!?
I already did a Villain profile for my character Tavis Lavellan. His is my favorite Villian version of my OC's.
Here is the link.
I'll do one for Iselde as well because she already rides the line of Villainy, a bit.
1) What would your OC be like as a villain?
Quick preface because I doubt many know about her backstory:
Iselde was a spirit of Justice who was granted a body. Then captured and enslaved by a noble of the Evanuris. Eventually will come back into the Inquisition.
You do not want to be her enemy. You really really don't. She is ruthless, practical and cunning. Even without Villainy.
Iselde already struggles with moral imbalances that tug at her constantly. Out of all of my OC's she is likely the most traumatized and most bitter. So, unfortunately, it wouldn't take much to send her into relative villainy. She is extremely steadfast in her morals and objectives. Her friends are important to her but her primary objective above all things is Justice. But Justice can be a relative thing. Since she embodies it in physical form it is hard for her to see that distinction.
Memories still linger within her. Reminding her of how people always abuse their power and eventually use it to destroy the world. She is naturally pessimistic because she has experienced nothing substantial enough to prove her wrong.
She has a singular purpose. She has always and will always stand by it. No matter who it is, no matter how much she loves someone. Her primary objective is preserving the life of society as a whole.
If she became a full on villain, it would actually be relatively similar to Solas' reasoning. The greater purpose. She sees the big picture. It would likely become muddied by her own bias. But their objectives are not always aligned. Which makes this Solavellan romance rather tumultuous. Because they are both headstrong and stubborn. They do agree on many things though.
2) What is your OC like at their worst?
She has black out periods where her ptsd is set off and she doesn't know what happened after the lapse. This is rare but if she were to become a corrupted form of Justice it would be absolutely terrifying. She would practically become the pure embodiment of vengeance. Kind of like when FleMythal goes nuts. But she would have bouts of madness far worse than that. I really shudder at the thought. Because deep down she is a good person who has been very very hurt.
3) What villain does your OC most closely resemble in other works?
I feel like it would be hard to attribute her to a villain because there are already aspects about her that are dark. But – not dark as well. “Dark is Not Evil” etc
I would attribute Iselde to Lisbeth Salander from 'The Millennium Trilogy.'
They both tend to ride the line of villainy, I suppose.
4) How can your OC be defeated?
Exploiting her psychological setbacks regarding her ptsd. Making her prey for demons. She could become entirely unhinged if they preyed on these things. It's scary and a very slippery slope.
5) What makes your OC so dangerous?
She is a force of nature. Terrifying in the way of her willpower and determination. She is very cunning and stealthy. And she will stop at nothing to do what she believes is right in the broader scheme of things.
Even more dangerous, is the potential for her to become unhinged. She has a purpose and if that purpose is perverted; she will be as well.
