FINALLY! The ISHAAN CHA deep dive is done! This one took me like two months because this man has maybe twelve panels total and I had to build a whole theory off scraps and etymology.
What it Covers: His name breakdown, the Butcher connection, what his gift might actually be, his role in the Ahn situation, and a mythology convergence theory at the end that I'm either going to look really smart or really stupid for. I don't think Officer Ahn killed Jaeil because he was weak.
I think she might have killed him because he wasn't stronger than Ryujin.
Ryujin had already displayed impressive power to the Corps by killing an Officer. Who we are assuming was the Gyeon twin that attacked 5C. He was Level 9, which is the second highest rank.
While Officer Ahn said she could feel Sayeon the moment she walked through the door,it seems Officer Cha felt her at least a little earlier, see as he opened the door for her before she even knocked.
So I don't think it's far fetched to assume she could feel Sayeon earlier too.
So, because Officer Ahn had preexisting knowledge of Ryujin's strength and could (potentially) feel a stronger aberrant in the building, she might have killed Jaeil for not being stronger than Sayeon. By doing this, she guaranteed that there would be an opening for her to convince Ryujin to take the offer.
Just a theory, of course. Feel free to let me know what you guys think.

damn these lawyers are gay!! nothing beats the domesticity illustrated in this "day-in-the-life" fic with wrightworth. i've read it so many times i think i can recite lines by heart. i was so inspired by this fic that i began writing a damijon fic with a similar premise, showing their domestic bliss through their daily routine and i need to pick it up again at some point. this fic always cheers me up after a rough day!

If it was possible to eat the prose of this fic, I would. rageprufrock is one of my favorite authors of all time and their prose is so amazing and unique, clean and perfectly calculated. this fic is the Inception crew except they run a newspaper instead of a heist-criminal-dream-service and it is astonishing how well the author translated their little quirks over to an office setting. also it is startlingly accurate (at least to me, someone who knows nothing about newspapers) and features layers upon layers of detail. awesome read overall
