Haikyuu Ships & favourite cuddling positions

Daisuga: I think Daisuga most actively gravitate towards cuddling when they're both doing independent quiet things like reading/checking emails/scrolling etc, so I think they're a "head on the shoulder, arm around, but still sitting upright with at least one arm free" kind of person." I don't think they have a preference for who leans on who, it's more just "oh my partner is on the couch I'm going to go sit down very close to them and get their arm around me" equally.

Asanoya: these bitches are lay down couch cuddlers. Their height difference makes it perfect for watching movies if Asahi is behind him without actually getting in the way, and Noya is always so cold anyway and this is the perfect solution. They fall asleep on the couch like this constantly.

Tsukkiyama: I don't think these two are big on cuddling in general, but they are definitely bed cuddlers when they are specifically if Tsukki is reading in bed, Yamaguchi will sidle his way in against his side. They cuddliest directly before and after sleeping, not so much during the day.

Kagehina: I don't see either of them as cuddlers, but I think they're probably more cuddly during "waiting periods" - bus rides, a lunch breaks, standing in line, etc. If they're on the train for a while Hinata will slide over and put his head on Kageyama's shoulder, or if they're waiting in a long line Kageyama might wrap his arms around his shoulders loosely, but I don't think they enjoy laying down and cuddling as an activity. They're both too high energy for that. One time they tried and within minutes they were out in the field playing volleyball. Why waste the time?

Iwaoi: bath tub cuddlers alert! These two love sharing a bath. And even though Oikawa is way too big to be the little spoon, you better fucking believe he is. He's got his gangly fucking legs out of the water, Iwa is probably struggling to breath behind him, but honestly, there's nowhere either of them would rather be. Iwa will not admit that he loves the heavy pressure + hot water combination, plus getting to kiss the top of Oikawa's head without Oikawa being able to look at him or mock him. I think Iwa has an extra layer of anxiety around expression affection, so the added (even if useless) benefit of the concept of a locked bathroom door really helps him relax and enjoy it.

Ushiten: chair cuddlers to the extreme. Tendou is incapable of seeing Ushijima sitting in a room doing anything without sitting in his lap. Tendou will happily conk out for the day like this, thankfully Ushijima is pretty good at nudging him to get up when needed, but they're both so touch starved that they often will spend a lot of their social time wrapped up in each others arms like this, just to squeeze in all the closeness they can before the day has to continue.

Kogagoshi: Goshiki will not ever admit this, but he just loves laying on Kogane's chest. Its like a safe space to the extreme, one time he fell asleep like that and Kogane was trapped by cat rules to just stay perfectly still and chose to miss his bus rather than wake him. Goshiki didn't even realize that he was missing that feeling of comfort day to day before hand. And now its his go-to physical affection thing.

Semishira: honestly not really cuddlers. If anything, they couch people who like to lean against each other and snuggle in that way, for short periods, but otherwise are usually doing something else.

Kuroken: I think these two are like true, proper sleep cuddlers. They cuddle up when they want to go to bed, tucked up and warm and tangled together, and they close their eyes. I also think they're freaks who face each other when they do this rather than spooning. They wake up on their backs and half on top of each other every time.

Fukutora: one time Tora woke up to Fukunaga laying perpendicular across him. He's still not sure what that was about. Tora's not really much of a cuddler, but Fukunaga is a "i must sleep on my boyfriend" sort of person so if Tora is sitting or laying anywhere, Fukunaga will find a way to lay on his shoulder or across his lap or something to cuddle and fall asleep.

Bokuaka: honestly I think they're sort of simple, where Bokuto just really likes holding Akaashi, so Akaashi is often relegated to the little spoon for sleepy times, and otherwise is often being pulled onto Bo's lap, or getting an arm wrapped around him. They're sort of all-day-all-night cuddlers and really dont have a preferred spot.

Arankita: I think they're evening/night time cuddlers, and usually it will involve a blanket. Mostly a "wrapped up warm together on the same chair in this heavy quilt" kind of situation, where Kita will tuck his knees up and lay against Aran and just enjoy the warmth and quiet. Aran falls asleep so fast like this, all the chair naps are giving him back pain now. They've never finished a movie and Aran doesnt even know what TV show they're supposed to be watching.

Bonus Round: which Haikyuu couples use cuddling as foreplay for sex, and which are actually just enjoying cuddling?

Daisuga: just cuddling! They are way more intentional about having sex with each other.

Asanoya: just cuddling!

Tsukkiyama: just cuddling (yamaguchi is trying to change this.)

Kagehina: absolutely a precursor to sex. If Kageyama is sitting down and Hinata comes to sit in his lap - or if Hinata is laying down and Kageyama comes to lay beside him - or any other circumstances where one of them willingly instigates affectionate physical contact without ulterior motive? They're having sex. Like. Within minutes.

Iwaoi: its rarely a precursor to sex - if it is, there will be kissing involved immediately. Its very easy to tell the difference.

Ushiten: Ushijima can't tell, and Tendou makes all his choices with his mental magic eightball, so really cuddling could lead to anything. Sex. Arson. Whatever.

Kogagoshi: just cuddling!

Semishira: they're already having sex about it the cuddling lasted half a second.

Kuroken: honestly, usually a precursor for sex

Fukutora: 50/50 depending on if Fukunaga has already fallen asleep.

Bokuaka: just cuddling but Bokuto would not mind.

Arankita: just cuddling, but only because Aran never assumes Kita would want to transition from cuddling to sex and misses 100% of the signals. Kita is actually impressed by his consistency on the matter.

I hc that Suga, Yamaguchi, Tendou and Oikawa meet up post nationals and sit there and drink tea and talk INSANE smack. Like everyone knows that Suga is 'secretly' a menace and Yamaguchi had a really innocent face but he's been best friends with TSUKKI since he was like. 8. He's literally the best gossiper and he can talk about diabolical tea because he's actually cracked at eavesdropping. Oikawa (we already know) is a huge bitch (affectionate) and I bet that he's the guy that hangs out at the girls' lunch table because of all the rumors and he would stand up and go "I KNEW IT" and immediately tell the squad. And Tendou probably collects random-ass blackmail for fun. Semi and Shirabu making out in a corner? Instantly photographed, uploaded to the cloud and 3 other backup sources. A video of Ushiwaka humming to Shakira? Immortalized forever.

Now imagine all of this but the Miyagi Talk Shit Squad™ is in a group chat. And someone has tea (herbal AND verbal) and they meet up at someone's house and it's like. "Hey guess who found Semi and Shirabu making out?" "Did you guys know that Ukai and Takeda are actually banging?!" "I'm pretty sure I saw Iwaizumi with like a massive hickey on his neck!" "Oh shit, sorry gang, that was my bad!"
