Isn't It Ironic, Don't You Think?~starter for Juan Yoshida

Of course it had to come to this. It was only a matter of time before something like this would happen. Drip. A single raindrop fell from the grey clouds above and landed on the diplomat’s nose. Vik just sighed and just walked a little bit faster.
Drip, drop, drip. It wasn’t like Vik hated the rain- he did rather enjoy listening to the steady rhythm of rain on the roof and his window. It was therapeutic in a somber way- the perfect setting for reading a mystery novel or finishing the 2nd Volume of the World Book (or was it the 3rd he was on?). But getting caught outside as it begins to rain without his trusty trench coat? Oh hell no.
By now, the light drizzle began to give way to big fat drops of water, the kind that can totally wreck the expensive suit he was wearing. The ambassador, beginning to feel little rivers of water worming its way through the cloth, decided that enough was enough and ran underneath the closest tree to him. It was just a shower and not a thunderstorm according to the local forecast, thank goodness, but Vik still berated himself for forgetting his coat at home.
"… Well done Vik. Congratulations on getting yourself trapped outside when you have classes to go to in half an hour."
He resigned himself to pushing his fedora down a little more, as if it would help keep the rain from soaking the diplomat anymore than he already was. But then, he heard it.
Fwip! The sound of hope, of protection, of salvation. The sound of an umbrella being opened. Vik turned his head, and, lo and behold, here’s a student with his ticket out of the rain! This opportunity was definitely not one to be wasted, so why not call out for help? He should practice making friendships with people his own age anyways.
"Ah, hello there! Yes, you sir! Do you mind sharing that umbrella with me? I need to head to art class soon, and I could sure use some help here!"
He didn’t make a move towards the young man- that would be rude. Vik could only cross his fingers and hope the boy didn’t find sharing an umbrella with a complete stranger to be not totally weird at all. A quick reply wouldn’t hurt though.
