ishin is so underrated. sakamoto ryoma come home the kids miss you
As promised/threatened, and also to break in my new username*, here is an exhaustive ranking of Majima fuckability. I didn’t want to be accused of being overly shallow so each one is accompanied by a haiku in order to ho it down.
This is not based on anything of any material worth. There is no nuance in this post and no weighing up of style over substance. Hark weary traveller, for nothing of any value can be found below the cut beyond a good, old-fashioned wankrank. Let’s dive in, shall we?
Bakumatsu Babes (illiterate)
Ryu Ga Gotoku Merchandise (Late May Edition)
I caved and bought the other Multipouch. I already had the Goromi themed one and it is perfect for storing smaller acrylics and badges that I don't have out on display.
Love the outline designs scattered around the background it is definitely giving me nostalgic 80/90's projector lighting. (The kind you would see in cinemas, discos etc)
A few little items next;
One of the larger button badges, this time of a 20 year old Majima.
A little acrylic charm of Goro's disco mascot.
A standard acrylic standee of Goro Majima in his formal red shirt and suit attire, that he wears in Yakuza 3 and 4.
Recently released were a bunch of matching badge buttons and Standees, all depicting Goro Majima in various outfits from the Pirates in Hawaii game.
In particular I was interested in both the badge and acrylic of the wetsuit variant. (No reason at all, don't question it...)
The badge is 2 inches rather than being oversized like previous merchandise lines, which I think is what threw me off when I was calculating the size of the acrylic. For once I am very grateful to @mister-astringent for convincing me to hold off and wait for cheaper listings because I think I would have been disappointed had I paid more than I did.
Word of warning: These standees are teeny!
For size reference, I have shown him against one of the cards from the Pirates in Hawaii set and also a standard sized standee.
LOOK AT HIM! WHAT IS THAT! Little Menace Man.
Moving on...
Considering how much Kiryu loves Haruka, the Merchandise team don't seem to. There is very little to collect of her...
I did stumble upon this standee of her in costume though, which is really cute!
Finally picked up some more of the Music CDs that were available!
"The Best Song Selection" covers songs included in Yakuza 5.
It also comes with a double sided booklet, one side is full of the lyrics, but switch it over and you have a series of in-game maps for the new locations.
Track 10: That took me by surprise when having a listen. Imagine you are at the front row of Haruka's concert surrounded by Kiryu, Akiyama, Saejima and Shinada all screaming their karaoke bests... That is this track.
The second CD is the Ishin! Soundtrack, which also comes with a pamphlet of lyrics.
Unfortunately, it doesn't feature an Edo rendition of Baka Mitai, which I'd been hoping for, but it does include Okita's own take on Samurai Ondo, another personal favourite of mine.
Staying on the Ishin! theme, I have slowly been collecting these acrylics from the smaller of the two series available for these characters.
I only need 2 more to complete the collection: Toshizo (Mine) and Kichinosuke (Ryuji)
Lastly, I bit the bullet and bought this little menace.
Similar to other plush made for the series, the Ishin! line of sitting characters tend to fall short of the mark for me, but there always seems to be one exception.
This one was Okita. His crazy eye translates well to the design. I love his little ponytail, and the way that the embroidery for his eyepatch gives it a metallic sheen. The only thing I would criticise is that his booty is so big that his haori doesn't sit correctly at the back.
As a comparison, I've also sat him next to the Akiyama from the Sega badge line.
okita soji is *chef’s kiss*
