christine-connor's questions:
1. How has your life been different than what you’d imagined until now?
Hmm, I guess what's most different from what I expected would be relationships and interests. When I was younger, I assumed my family would always get along drama-free, and now I see that we don't. I didn't anticipate ever forming such close friends that I legitimately miss during summer. I also thought writing and drawing was all I'd ever want to do, so any time I find something new that I really like, like history and theater, my view of what I wanna do with my life changes. This is probably all small stuff, but it still manages to surprise me.
2. What has been the best amusement park you have ever visited and why?
I haven't really been to many amusement parks, but I do remember that I went to and loved Universal Studios in Orlando when I was younger. I remember it had a magical sort of atmosphere, and I think I rode my first loop-de-loop there.
3. What annoys you about living where you live now?
I live in boring old Delaware- not even the northernmost county, which at least has some stuff going on. There is very, very little to do here. :-[
4. If your country was threatened by war, would you go and try to defend it, try to run away with your family, or simply await the outcome of the war?
I think I'd be between the 2nd and 3rd outcome, and that would depend on the scale of the war- if I really felt like my family and I were in danger, I'd probably try to run. Then again, probably some people I'm close to would join the conflict, and I'd want to be there for them. It's a tough question!
5. What’s the most annoying catchphrase or cliche you can think of?
The oft-used platitude "Everything happens for a reason" usually grates on my nerves a bit, because in my experience, it's usually unsolicited and can be offensive if used about something tragic. I don't agree with the saying, and I think it's used too much/used carelessly.
6. Were you ever given a bad recommendation and did it change your opinion of the person who recommended the book/show/anime/movie/etc.?
My opinion didn't really change of my sister when she recommended Twilight to me- it was a godawful recommendation, but I've always known that we like different things, and I couldn't really make any new conclusions about her just because of what books she likes.
7. If you could influence people like a celebrity does, how would you use it for the benefit of the planet?
The cause I could see myself most advancing is better lives for dogs- I'd try to let people know about and become educated about Breed Specific Legislation- the dumbass policy to ban breeds of dog that completely uninformed people consider dangerous. I'd also try to get people to adopt more senior dogs, more mixed-breeds, and more rescue dogs. They need loving homes, too!
8. Do you think the government puts too little/too much pressure on college in your country?
I think there's too much pressure. It's a lot harder to even get into college anymore, putting a lot of stress on high school kids to cure cancer or the like if they even want a shot at 'having a future'. Then, there's all the difficulties of finding a job or internship while juggling college-level courses.
9. What was the strangest dream you ever had?
I used to have a recurring dream every year around Christmastime. Phil from Phil of the Future was in it, and we'd fly around on some sort of hovercraft. But the dream usually ended with me going into my basement, fighting a boss battle against a moving chair, and getting eaten by said chair.
10. If you dislike something, do you prefer to make a complaint over the telephone or in person?
I'm more of an over-the-phone kind of complainer.
11. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I'd like to be more independent- I think the thing that might give me most trouble in life or exasperate the most people around me is that I completely depend on others for almost everything, which I know I can't keep doing.
