i just learned that park eun tae have a substantial international fandom. how did he do that? afaik he wasn't an idol and it also wasn't because of western performances like hong kwang ho.

Uhhhhh I have no clue anon, he doesn’t have n wiki page (except in french that hasn’t been updated since 2018 and has like two paragraphs) and I tried to check if he had any drama credits and nope he’s sung for some OSTs but that’s it. I think he’s just very visible in Korean musicals. Like if we had to have a list of “the face of kmusicals” then he’d be on it, yknow.

I think maybe through osmosis? that’s why he’s so well known? I know that he’s played against a lot of people who bring in lots of international fans so maybe they kinda were like oh he’s pretty good too. TBH I’m not very well connected with the international fandom so I’m not sure what a substantial amount would be. He’s also got a lot of videos on youtube of licensed musicals! I know that his Gethsemane for Jesus Christ Superstar is like over 1mil views so maybe people just happened upon his performances and were like oh yeah I stan.

If I can add to this, Park Eun Tae is one of the few Korean musical performers I knew before I really started getting into Korean musicals, and that’s because I would watch compilation videos of international performances of, for example, all the different Jesuses from different countries singing Gethsemane. A /lot/ of those type of international compilation videos feature Park Eun Tae in his roles.

fun fact: for years we had two male peacocks living in our neighborhood in the middle of suburban delaware no one knew where they came from they just showed up one day. we named them “sugar” and “booger” and i liked feeding them cereal even though they would poop all over our balcony  then after a couple years a new neighbor moved in and called the zoo, but when the animal catchers came the peacocks ran away faster than we’ve ever seen them run before

i hear one of them made it to another neighborhood and no one has seen the other one since. i like the to think sugar’s the one who made it to another neighborhood cuz he was always very clingy/always wanted to be around people

Will it be Mako, who does have exceptionally nice hair, or his brother Bolin, washed-up mover actor who just can’t seem to catch a break? How about Kuvira, our resident despot, or Zhu Li, who gives excellent back rubs and can cook a positively delectable soufflé, facts I most certainly cannot attest to myself? Or will it be Korra’s current flame, Asami Sato?” Varrick leans to the side and whispers to (what seems to be) an imaginary audience (though Varrick’s always been kind of crazy, so who knows). “Although that attitude of hers sure isn’t winning her any brownie points.”

Asami huffs when Korra shoots her a lopsided grin and waggles her fingers in her direction. Like that’s supposed to be cute or something. Because it’s not. It’s not. Asami is prepared to swear her favorite car away that her blush is just a symptom of secondhand embarrassment from the general absurdity of this entire situation.

I’ve been wanting to draw some RomEst all week, so as my final thing for apheeweek slightly fashionable kids out having a good time. Probably an idea for what Romano and Eve and been doing after my rp “Cluelessly.” Evelin now goes over to Romano’s place for a while. And they hang out at odd shops and scale buildings for fun.

I am gonna miss this week, but I am hoping to keep up with two works a day for at least a while.

I swear I was gonna do choir EstLat and Sci-if EstFin at first but maybe I’ll go back to them later.
