Character sheet - Neo

Neo is a young demon from “The City” an under underworld for the demons and underworld staffs. One day he made a bet with his peer over how fast he could capture a human soul, something that the elders prohibited due to past problems with humans and demons. He sneaked in to the human world, immediately go to a random high school, thinking teenagers would give him an easy win on the bet. That’s when he meet Dollen and where his bet turn from “how fast he could capture a human soul” to “how long will they deal go for”

How it started

A high school senior named Dollen one day found himself in a presence of a young demon, Neo. Neo was tasked to get his first soul and what better target than a high schooler? Young, full of ungodly unobtainable goals and fill with life. The mission couldn’t be easier! “So kid, what do you desire?” Neo asked, floating around Dollen as if he was pressuring him to agree “Money? Frame? Maybe you have a crush who won’t return your feeling?” He guessed. Dollen is 18 what else could he possibly be thinking about? It was almost comical for Neo. ‘Human are so easy to read’ he laugh to himself

“I…” Dollen spoke up as he keep his eyes on the floor almost like he was hesitating to accept the demon offer. “You can truly give me anything?” He asked, finally look at Neo, turning ever so slightly to follow his movements. This make the young demon smirk, just as he thought, a young, stupid human child couldn’t resist such an opportunity.

“Of course I can!” Neo answered, leaning in closer to Dollen’s face “You’re looking at a state of the art demon here, best of the best” he said obviously exaggerating. If not that then he’s just the type to like his own reflection way too much “anything you can dream of is my command”

“In exchange for my soul” Dollen finished the sentence, looking to the floor as he consider the offer. Neo smirk and pat Dollen’s head “fast learner” he complimented but it hardly genuine. The boy contemplated of a moment, not saying anything at all. It’s making Neo feel impatient. He was about to say something to pressure the kid even more but Dollen finally spoke up “Can you…can you mess with time?” He asked a bit hesitantly

“Ooo what, need something change?” Neo asked, flipping himself over in the air playfully “Embarrassing moment? Something you regret? What’s the tea?” At this point he’s just toying with his food with all the teasing now

“I…” Dollen stopped himself for a moment before he find his words again “I failed a test. I-I want to get an A” he asked which puzzle Neo. This kid is willing to sell his soul for a grade? In high school? How idiotic can human get? “Yeah sure” Neo shrugged, deciding not to get involved too much “So, just change your grade—?”

“No” Dollen interrupted. He took a deep breath and finally look back up at the demon who is slightly intrigued by the boy “I want…I want to take it again.” He said with a bit more confidence than he had before “I want to— redo the year— as much as I need to to make my record is absolutely perfect” he continued making Neo even more confused “Can…can you do that?” He asked, becoming more hesitant again

“Let me get this straight” Said the demon as he set his foot on the ground in front of Dollen “You willing to sell YOUR SOUL for a high school gpa? When I can just snap my fingers and change your grade?” Dollen hesitantly nodded which make Neo snicker in disbelief “Kid, you’re absolutely insane!” He laughed “but yeah, I can do that easy”

“Really?”

“Sure, I want to see how miserable this turn out for you” Neo giggled as offer his hand, his magic engulfing the room “your soul for your grade” a wicked smile plastered on Neo’s face “do we have a deal then?”

Dollen only hesitated for a brief moment before he take a gulp and take a breath, shaking Neo’s hand. And just like that the deal is set. Dollen’s soul will be Neo’s as soon as the deal is complete. That was four years ago. To Neo’s dismay, Dollen keep failing his class and every time his grade got worse and worse. It’s about time Neo finally confronted him. It was funny the first 3 times it happened but this had been going on for four years! It almost like Dollen was doing it on purpose at this point.

How this blog and story came to be:

“lol what if I use an on going joke I have with my peers to name my thesis”

I want to grab my fellow burnt out kids by the throat and make us feel seen but also attack us directly for my own entertainment

The idea of “demon making a deal with this random guy for his soul in exchange for ‘guaranteed’ chance of success only to end in the demon yelling at the kid like ‘HOW ARE YOU FAILING FOR THE 20TH TIMES! IT’S JUST MATHS AND NUMBERS!’ and yoink said maths and numbers only to be confused why there’s letters in it” is medium to large funny to me
