I was just talking to a friend about my childhood and how I started getting into the specific type of roleplay I enjoy- mainly fantasy creature bonding, in all it's forms- and I realized that a lot of my interests we're influenced by a few specific things in my childhood and the steps of how these things all came together to form this genre we're interesting. Im sure I'm not the only one with this experience lol.

I loved pokemon, and that fueled my creature collecting addiction.

I was weirdly interested in punnett squares in science as a child, and that fueled my interest in breeding/genetics.

I started roleplaying on Neopets in the era of Egg Adoption RP, where you spoke to a magic themed egg and it would hatch into some unique fantasy creature. People had petpages dedicated to saving all the descriptions of them for future use.

I somehow discovered webpage-graphic adoptions in this time, specifically dragons.. and I found the Nexus where I met @akaluan (at age like.. 14 lol). I also was into reading Dragon Riders of Pern at this time, idk what came first honestly.

So of course, DRoP roleplay came next, and from there someone decided to take that basic concept and mash together all sorts of fantasy creatures into it, like the Egg rp from Neopets, and I found that site. Unfortunately I was never really able to get a foot in and eventually the site (Whazzit Weyrd) moved or died for a while, and I tried my hand at hosting forums with a similar basis (with mixed results) and then years later found Isnit Weyrd, which I still lurk/post on to this day.

I just realized it's such a specific interest that is hard for me, at least, to explain fully to people who don't have any knowledge of all of this.. I just had to write this all to get it out of my brain and make sense of it lol.
