pet peeve: people in germany seeing a date formatted according to ISO 8601 and going, "that's the American format, isn't it?"

no! it's the international format!

My personal, self-evidentially correct opinion:

The correct format for writing dates is obviously YYYY-MM-DD, no contest.

However, while DD.MM.YYYY is better than MM/DD/YYYY, the worst way of writing a date is DD/MM/YYYY. The only acceptable reason for doing that is active malice.

I want to make a poll, just for the hell of it. Pick a date format--not necessarily the one(s) used in your country, but which of them make the most sense to you.
