Isolated Cleft Palate Closure with Wardill-Kilner Technique This child was born with an isolated cleft palate deformity. Cleft palate repair was performed at 9-1/2 months of age. The Wardill-Kilner palatal pushback technique was used to surgically repair this. Using Delaire’s principle, the abnormal attachment of the levator palati and tensor palati were detached and a hammock was form with the muscle fibers. This recreated normal palatal structure. There was also perfect recreation of the uvula. There was no evidence of the previous hypernasality following surgery.
