Although Gil J Wolman's seminal sound work has been largely overlooked, it was a precursor of sound poetry and is one of the key elements of Lettrist poetry....

PS on Polyautomatism: “The purpose of polyautomatism was theoretically to offer a larger scope of randomisation than Dada chance methods, Surrealistic au-tomatic writing and free association, and other types of spontaneous techni-ques, such as Jackson Pollock's dripping. One could improvise by choosing randomly the instruments and/or the elements and/or the rhythms and/or the subjects of the work, whereas a nonanalytical approach of spontaneous or random expression would lead to a smaller number of solutions. It gutted me to have to miss SHAED when they headlined Popscene at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco back in March, but it was exactly during my annual pilgrimage out to Austin for SXSW. The Washington, D.C. alt/electro-pop trio made a swift ascent after their song Trampoline went viral after being featured in Apple’s MacBook Air commercial, and it deservedly hit #1 on Alternative Radio chart recently. SHAED has also released a new multi-track single, featuring fresh song ISOU and previously heard Thunder. ISOU is a glimmering injection of the group’s swiveling, shimmering, and prickly bounding electronic pop. It lunges spryly and sparkles irresistibly. Thunder is impacts Alternative Radio for Pride Month and serves as an anthem for fighting social injustice and inequality. You can listen to both songs off the multi-track single on Spotify, here. The trio sold out their first-ever headline tour this year and just kicked-off a busy festival season. Appearances at Bunbury, The Governors Ball, Firefly, Summerfest, Lollapalooza, and more are on the horizon.
