Israel geopolitics are what happens when you treat a real life ethnic group as some kind of fantasy hobbit that gets persecuted in history books in some magic land a thousand years away, instead of real people who are capable the same things as everyone else, good or evil or in between.

Israel defenders aren't defending the state of Israel or the Jewish people, they're defending the cute little meow meows with the funny hats they learned about in sunday school, there is no room for debate if there's no room for nuance.

Somebody on fb asked "But why is the [internal political situation in Israel] scary? What is the government doing that's anti-democracy?" And I'm 90% sure this was a bad faith question. I can't imagine anybody who knows what's going on and really doesn't know why people are scared. People are fucking terrified out of their god damn minds, more every day, for good reason. I have nothing good to say about the situation, nothing at all, except that I'm leaving and that I'm sad.

But I answered his question, in like 3-4 paragraphs, and I feel very conflicted on having done so. Surely this was just bait, right? I got baited, this wasn't genuine.
