Why do you still use outdated terms like mtf and ftm
I assume you’re referring to our sidebar description.
This blog is dedicated to the love and support for those who are transgender male, female, FtM, MtF, FtX, MtX, nonbinary, queer, neutrois, intersex, androgyne, and pre/post/non op.
They’re in the list because lots of people still use those terms to describe themselves. We don’t use those terms to describe people who don’t choose to use them, and we avoid using them as umbrella terms or as tags unless the asker has used them first. Still, many people choose to continue using those terms for themselves (myself included), and this blog is here to support and help those people, as well as trans people who choose not to use those terms.
Our description is admittedly imperfect. We can’t possibly list all the words/identities that our followers and askers use, and we are certainly supportive of trans/nonbinary people who don’t use the terms we list in our description. However, removing terms (such as if we removed ftm and mtf) feels very much like an active rejection of people who use those terms and I don’t, personally, intend to do that.
