Why is it that all of the historical romances I’ve seen lately featuring the Antebellum South or Confederate Soldier leads also seem to bill themselves as Inspirational or Christian romance?
I mean I have my theories. But still... It’s not a good look.
#historical romance#problematic tropes#so many things wrong#so many sighs#I get it#plantations are pretty#but they're also built on the back of slaves#and slavery#so their beauty was built on a foundation of ugliness#and death#and horror#and do not forget it#do not erase history#do not sugarcoat history#slavery was wrong#it is still wrong#and just because you have a crush on Clark Gable doesn't excuse the wrongness#I have opinions
