Rest in Peace James Ransone. Frequently the best thing of whatever he's in. Deputy So-And-So in "Sinister", Ziggy Sobotka in "The Wire" (drinking a beer, whiskey and egg in his memory this New Year's Eve...), unhinged shitbag Ray in "Generation Kill", Chester the Pimp (a performance well worth the build up) in the exhilarating "Tangerine" (he says "Na DAWG, you be TRIPPIN'!" and I needed that in my life), and an oddly inspired choice to play Eddie Kaspbrak in "It: Chapter 2". A remarkable actor, sorely missed

Yk what this is an opinion I haven't had long but I do feel that my opinion of the way Eddie Kaspbrak was played in IT: Chapter 2 wouldn't have been as bad with most of the same dialogue as long as he'd been played on some level as being a part of the joke and not taking it as seriously.

Like the whole sequence of Richie and Eddie in the restaurant reads way better if Eddie is kind of laughing along, cause then rather than him seeming genuinely upset and sick of Richie and everyone, not having a good time, it puts him into a more equal dynamic with them all, holding his own and turning the jokes back on Richie with the whole talking about Richie's joke just being that his mom was fat and then also encouraging the others into the back and forth with him. Then, the dialogue could've moved to Eddie, combating Richies abrasive more offensive humour by undermining it to be a part of the joke.

Like I feel like that just kind of goes a long way in improving the dynamic between the characters in the scene and probably other parts of the movie too cause as its og playing goes, it just seems like Eddie's being way too sensitive and everyone is laughing at him and he's not a part of the humour.
