‘ i’m only going to ask this once and i need the truth . are you … or were you ever fucking them ? answer me . ’
The color in Dinah’s face drained completely. Her jewelry box had been shattered, broken in pieces on the floor. It was the first thing she noticed when she walked into the room. The second thing she noticed? The piece of jewelry that was in a death grip in Oliver’s fist. It was a chain that held a different wedding band, that became a token of sentimental value. The first case she was assigned to with Dean just so happened to be one where they needed to go undercover as a married couple. She had honestly forgotten about the token. In fact, she never wore the necklace ever again after the carnival. After she became Dinah Laurel Lance-Queen.
She shifted from one foot to the other. Seeing that wedding band brought back too many memories. The memory of Dean had been buried in the back of her mind and now it was all coming back to her. You’re better off not caring, Laur. Words that she wanted to throw at Oliver. Because he was better off not knowing the truth.
“Yes.” Her voice was cracked, mouth completely dry. Something she hadn’t noticed until it became hard to talk. Even harder to breathe. She couldn’t stop staring at the ring. Because she didn’t want to look Oliver in the eyes. “And, no. Yes, we were fucking. Before the carnival. No, we never fucked after it.”
