*Smiling off into space whilst thinking about Razor*
*suddenly realizes something*
Wait a second, you said no one’s asked for vessels in the ask game yet
AND YOU BETTER HAVE YOURSELF A GREAT DAY NOW❤️
ok no joke smiling off into space while thinking abt the fury is also my default state of being this gave me a good chuckle. i'm saying this so i don't rip my shirt off and go full ape right now
the way i draw fury goes. Way back. i should state here... the first time i drew ANY of the vessels, in general, was working on the princesslyngs. because of that, i have Kind Of an idea of how i want to stylize most of them, but not anything concrete because i've only ever drawn them as weird space catbirds. fury is one of these. i'm including just a random princesslyng doodle page here too just so this post doesn't get obnoxiously long
furylyng was 14 hours of sketch work and 8 hours of coloring... the only reason i took so long is because i was driving myself mad trying to get her absolutely perfect, and i still cannot look at furylyng without wincing a little because oh my god baby's first fury image this looks like ASS compared to how i draw her now. i was so confused.
furylyng's design is where a lot of the way i draw fury comes from, though. like... the tail is right there LOL. everything About the tail i draw fury w/ is just ripped from the starlyng ver i did because i had so much fun drawing it that first time. (the fact that i gave her little hip wings here which then reappeared in her concept art isn't lost on me. i think i may be psychic.) if i went fully in on ripping design aspects from furylyng for the way i draw fury, i would've ported the eyes under the skin of her tail as well. like a barreleye if it sucked.
there was a very very very long period of time where i wasn't comfortable drawing her. for a while, this little blob head doodle was the only art of her i'd ever done. not for any material reason, i wasn't scared of judgment, i just had high standards and wanted to make sure i did her justice. she's special to me! to an almost ludicrous degree!
the thing abt her design that's given me the most trouble is, hilariously, her face. her eyes specifically. she's kind of hard to make emote because of the weird relationship her eyebrows have with reality so i just kind of wing it every time LOLOL honestly i'm still kind of dissatisfied with the way i draw her face but... i don't think i'll ever be satisfied with it, so i've come to just accept however it turns out.
her horns, too. her horns suck to draw. they have this outward curve to them, kind of like a ram's, but they don't curl nearly as tightly + aren't nearly as thick. i'm realizing now that i can literally change that and just draw them however i want. i already give her the ridges needle has on her horns. none of this is real... nunna this friggin mattas...
anyways i think this is the best i've ever pulled off in both the expressions and managing to make her horns look passable regard. also her stupid greasy ass hair LOVE her stupid greasy ass hair. this headcanon is borne solely of the fact that i see a lot of myself at my worst in her and. well i'm not going to get into all that today but she's just like me. fr.
besides that she's... not as intimidating of a subject as i thought she would be LOL her ribcage is pretty easy to bs, her muscles don't actually Have humanoid muscle structure (nor are they drawn consistently Ever), a lot of the time her heart is just drawn as an indistinct lump... at some point you just go all in on the bullshit, and if you're confident enough in your bullshitting, it'll look like it's meant to look like that.
my one little tip besides the above is that her feet get SO much easier to draw once you start, like, actually thinking of them as claws and all that would entail. i may be a biased source though considering i drew primarily creatures for the longest time and am most comfortable drawing claws... shes so cute sorry i jsut have to say it she's so cute. she's everything
