“So you would have answered?”

There are very few things that make me happier than the opening scene of Green Street Hooligans.
OUH thinking about the dramatic ass fog trick I mean ed is so smart and cool and hot and clever I would never feel good enough for his company ever. even if he was eating marmalade out of my hand and falling asleep in my clothes. I'd ALWAYS be waiting for the other shoe to drop. because he can pull off THAT. he keeps track of the sea movements and the weather patterns and the shifting alliances between all the different trade organizations and the navies and he raids and swashbuckles and wins and wins and wins like. even after he admitted to me that it's exhausting, that he doesn't like it, that it tires him to the bone. it'd be impossible to forget that he's the coolest hottest most clever motherfucker alive and I'm LUCKY he hasn't stabbed me in the face and picked my ship clean. all this to say stede, I get it. how could you EVER have a high enough self esteem to believe you belong in the same room as ed. I couldn't. I would never be able to convince myself that I have a right to be there next to him. I could maybe settle for believing that HE believes I belong there. and I'd love him enough to respect his decision to believe in me. but I could never. not my whole life could I ever. accept that I deserve his attention.
hear me out: paralleled lovers to enemies and enemies to lovers. where two people start out together but one slowly becomes an antagonist, while there's a third character who was their enemy from the start and slowly turns good, becoming who the hero really deserved after all.
I just remembered what happened in the last chapter of Flower Bouquet.
I feel sick.
