i think we can (or perhaps should) all agree that when well-intentioned people with large audiences say misinformed/misguided/questionable things they should be called out and educated as to why. but spreading misinformation in retaliation to build hate against that person goes beyond that, escalating it to death threats and hope for other horrible things to happen to them even more so -- that stops being about the important issues first highlighted and just becomes a smear campaign (imo)
