what do you REALLY use water for??? cause some people say it's just for slag but others need it for powering themselves at all???
<FDM> depends on your model. like everything.. although in addition to its base function as a slag remover, it was most commonly used as a secondary coolant system - later becoming the primary system in newer models.
<FDM> for older models, overheating was generally not something that would ever be. a problem. it was actually considered as a catastrophic failure, and in the event of such you'd immediately get knocked out until you cooled down.
<FDM> with newer models came a warmer world and a bigger need to cool down, as well as more than even "just" rarefaction cells, so many new-gen iterators split their water into three functions; as coolant, for slag, and for additional power.
<FDM> a lot of you probably heard of that event with UI and BG. anyone who's seen UI might be able to guess he's a bit of an older-gen iterator, so you might be wondering how he overheated like that... it was mostly his neighbor, although i assume he was given better coolant as a required compatibility upgrade. in order to properly interface with newer models, a lot of older model iterators need tons of upgrades... although that's a post for another day.
<FDM> as i mentioned, it's mostly middle-genners who used it as secondary coolant, usually having large fans and vents to assist with cooling over just using water. once water became more of a widespread resource, people mostly switched over to just using it instead, which probably solved a lot of problems in the end like fans rusting or vents being unable to open properly. still caused its own problems, though...
<FDM> of course, as always, there are exceptions to this - every gen has about two quintillion experimental iterators with only the weirdest systems. but this information should hopefully be good as just general trivia.
