Über Serverprobleme: "Ich vermute, das hat wieder irgendetwas mit den Rechten zu tun..."
Ich:"Hä? Was haben denn jetzt die Nazis damit zu tun?"

Yes, I know more than the average person when it comes to Internet connections, and especially as it pertains to TCP/IP, so when you're walking me through your hair-brained theory on where the connection is at any given point, and where you think that the hold up is, I can nod along and understand two things. One: You're wrong. Two: You're an idiot. You are working with computers, with logical systems that operate by very strict (but not immune to failure) rules. What you were doing in your explanation was trying to bend that logic to your will, to fit your theory that your system is not the problem. But it is. Our modem is online, and over the past 1,000 pings has not varied outside 36-38ms ping times. The Windows status message for the network reads that you have Internet access on your wireless network until you try to open a browser and actually use it, then the Internet connection drops and you're stuck at Local Only. But your modem is online the whole time. But I know that this won't do any good, that I will show you that our service is fine, but you'll deny it and try to show me that I'm wrong by some more attempts at Logic-bending. Also, after all of that, and your "interesting" explanation of how the world works, that when I asked you to bypass your network and plug directly from the modem to your computer, you can't even find an Ethernet cable. Really? You have an 8-port router, which has two wireless routers connected to it, as well as six hard-wired computers. You honestly can't find an Ethernet cable among all of that networking equipment? Wait, wait, now. You're wife is chiming now. Every time I ask you a question, she has some sort of half-mumbled answer and every time you're asking a question she has some sort of inane correction or comment. It's making troubleshooting impossible. I know she's trying to help, but the teamwork concept doesn't help in troubleshooting by phone, it actually hinders progress. So please, one at a time. For the entire call, ma'am. Lastly, I asked you for your IP address as a test to gauge your aptitude. You failed hard.
