In the same vein as the grunge thing: the popular girls that bullied me for being punk now donning an expensive plaid skirts, some docs & some fishnets and calling themselves punk while having none of the punk ideals, listening to none of the music, and having no idea what punk actually is.

i fucking hate those kind of people. like punk is not just looking edgy or expensive. its a mindset of fuck the system and fighting the hypocrisy and corruption that comes with life. it’s fighting the lies that get shoved down your throat and the capitalistic mindset that is ingrained in society. it’s wanting to make a difference in the world. it’s taking what you have and making something out of it. that’s our patches, our ripped jeans, our fingerless gloves, our hair, our life. it’s not expensive shoes and skirts and fishnets to look “cool”. it’s doing good to spite the bad, it’s rebellion for all the reasons that rebellion exists in the first place. the clothes don’t make us badass and cool, it’s our mentality.
