Been reflecting on what i hate so much about Matchmaking/meddling/etc in fic and part of it is definitely the way some authors wont let these main characters have any agency and autonomy, but part of it is also.. thats not the point of the ship? The point isn't, to me, 'characters find eachother hot so they kiss', the point is them working together to build a relationship, and figuring out how their personalities and lives (and stories) fit together, and other characters constantly going 'oh youre so dumb for not having kissed yet' just takes away from that
