Matthew 26:52 (NKJV) - But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
hiii darling! what are your thoughts on this is why?
It’s not a perfect album, but still one that I will probably listen to a decent amount.
Liar is a good example of why it works as a body of work for me. I do not particularly care for the lyrics since I think they’re a bit too repetitive, but it sounds so pretty. And I’m going to listen to it just to hear that instrumental. Every song has something going for it, which is what you get with an album this collaborative. You can tell they all cared, and the length plays in the album's favour as well. I saw people wishing it was longer but not me!! I’m going to need people to start cutting down tracklists again!
The highlights for me are definitely the production and Hayley’s delivery. If other songs sound pretty, Big Man, Little Dignity is absolutely gorgeous and might be my favorite song they’ve ever done (though this is most likely just because it’s new and exciting, since the lyrics are not the strongest but!! pretty!!). Running Out Of Time is fun - there was a fire (metaphorically), be there in five (hyperbolically)?? Love!!
Have to mention all the little moments of distortion as well, very big fan of those. However, this might be the weakest Hayley’s lyrics have been in a while though… ever maybe? Lot to unpack there but I am having fun!
I'm going to unpack it a bit actually. I don't think anything is ragingly bad. But lyrics like "I am a magnet for broken pieces, I am attracted to broken people" don't really do anything for me. The one I see people unanimously freak out about is "turns out I'm livin' in a horror film where I'm both the killer and the final girl" which again is not bad!! I am just not personally that fond of it.
What did you think of it? I have a lot of baggage with the band so a more objective opinion would be interesting!
Sportblr really said it's our weekend and made 6 different sports trend. Love that for us. 😅
