not really. if anything, reality affects fiction. if the world is going to shit, people are going to tell stories about worlds going to shit. or theyre going to tell stories about nature and peace and utopia to cope.

fiction affects reality through little kids swordfighting with sticks after watching a movie about knights. fiction affects reality through references to movies/shows/books becoming part of normal everyday language.

fiction doesn't make people become rapists or murderers. those people made those decisions. if one mass shooter was obsessed with mlp, that doesn't mean mlp breeds mass shooters. that means that that kid liked applejack and also wanted to shoot up a fedex.

watching game of thrones has never made anyone (who wasn't already) attracted to their relatives. reading the hunger games has never made anyone (who didn't want to already) want to kill people. just like watching heartstopper doesn't turn straight people gay, reading minor/adult fanfiction doesn't make someone a child predator.

listening to epic the musical never made anyone want to kill their best friends

watching get out never made anyone want to do any of the many fucked up things in there.

fiction doesn't fucking affect reality. reality affects fiction.

fiction can affect fiction. after the hunger games, everyone wanted to write dystopian y/a. after harry potter, everyone wanted to write witches and wizards and magic. but fiction doesnt affect reality.
