“Oi!” says a voice, and Hinata looks up through teary eyes and sees a blonde. A girl - Yamanaka Ino, Hinata knows, though they’ve never talked. She’s the heir to the Yamanakas, in Hinata’s class and loud and confident and she glares at the boys, hands on her hips. “What are you doing? Let her up!”

There’s another girl that Hinata recognizes from class huddled behind her, a pink-haired girl with big green eyes - their eyes meet, and the pink-haired girl gives her a little nod.

The boys are undeterred, however, and the ringleader turns to scowl at Yamanaka. “She needs to apologize!” he snaps, glaring. “She ran into me!”

“That’s it?” Yamanaka asks, disbelieving. “Then you asked for it! Come on, Sakura!” She charges forward with a yell, and after a moment, the other girl does the same.

Yamanaka punches the leader square in the face, making him bleed and start crying, Sakura bites one of the other boys and he screams, and Hinata manages to reach out and grab the final boy’s leg so he goes crashing down with a yelp.

All three bolt, running as fast as they can from the girls, and Yamanaka lets out a whoop. “Take THAT!” she yells, waving a fist in the air after them, and then she turns to offer a hand to Hinata, a grin on her face. “Are you okay? They didn’t hurt you too bad?”

Hinata takes it, wide-eyed. “N-No...” she stammers, cheeks flushed.

“Good!” she says. “I’m Ino. You’re Hyuuga...” She frowns, and Hinata is about to quietly tell her before she snaps her fingers. “Hinata, right?”

She nods. “Um. Y-Yes...”

“Cool!” says Ino. “This is Sakura.”

Sakura squeaks a little when attention is put on her, and she nods politely in Hinata’s direction, ducking behind Ino.

“Th... Thank you,” Hinata whispers. “For saving me.” Ino is so bright and loud and fantastic, and when Hinata meets Sakura’s eyes, she thinks the other girl gets it.

“You’re welcome!” says Ino, puffing up a little. “Come on, let’s go before they come back with more. We’re going to the park, wanna come?”

Ko is probably looking for her, but right now, Hinata could care less. “Yes,” she says, and Ino’s smile is the sun.

wait before you go what manga about women kissing women are you reading???

OH EXCELLENT QUESTION TO MAKE ME STAY FOR A WHILE i actually recently finished my rewatch of revolutionary girl utena anime (which has less kissing and more trauma, but hey. at least there’s some REALLY GOOD hand holding and drawing swords out of chests. peak wlw-ism.) i haven’t watched the movie though (which actually does have women kissing women) but i wanted a break from all the trauma. SO after my utena blues, yesterday i started reading the “i’m in love with the villainess” manga adaptation of the light novel. it’s a really stupid isekai but it’s a good stupid isekai because i had a lot of fun reading it! five chapters have been translated in english so far but lucky for me there’s the original-author-approved fan translation of the light novel which i’m probably going to check out if my attention span allows. if you haven’t heard of this novel, you can check the summary out! it’s very very interesting :3 other than that, i haven’t binge-read any yuri manga lately. there are a few manga that i keep up with every now and then though

first is “otherside picnic” which is ABOUT TO GET AN ANIME ADAPTATION THIS JANUARY. it’s a psychological thriller sci-fi WITH LESBIANS. really, it’s as good as it sounds and i’m so hyped for the anime knowing that it has the same director as steins;gate anime. (they haven’t kissed in the manga yet, and i’m not caught up with the light novel. the frustration is real ngl. but the yearning. OH the yearning.)

on a more light hearted note is, of course, “tamen de gushi” which is actually a manhwa but the characters are so stupid and cute and this is the best comic ever actually. i await every update very religiously.

i also keep up with “my cute little kitten” which is about two roommates who adopt a cat and then profess their love for each other and live together after that. it’s very nice even though it took a very questionable turn in the recent chapter ._. why do yuri manga end up like this. anyway, it is very cute and wholesome and i hope for some damage control in the next update. cw for sexual stuff.

a long time ago i read “goodbye, my rose garden” volume 1 and am thinking of picking it up again now that i’ve learned that the third and final volume has dropped. it’s about lesbians in early twentieth century england. dear god was it good. i can’t wait to see how it ends.

on the more spicy side, i’ve been reading “how do we relationship” which is a very dramatic and angsty fic about two college girls and how they deal with their issues as they get together. i usually do not like manga like this one, but i’ve been keeping up just to see how it ends LOL. cw for serious sexual stuff.

and then. my guilty pleasure. this one sucks. like it really sucks it’s so cheesy and stupid but i got addicted so fast. “handsome girl and sheltered girl” which is about college girls and i couldn’t resist. so basically this girl likes this very hot dude but turns out! the dude is actually a girl! but the girl doesn’t know that her crush is a girl! but they start dating! it’s a mess. but it’s so. hnngh. i hate that i love this so much. cw for sexual stuff.

these are the ones i can think off from the top of my head. i usually just read one shots and doujins because there’s less emotion and time involved, and i’m not one made for too much romance stories. but this year i have also discovered that yuri manga has become my #1 coping mechanism. and here i am, the #1 hypocrite in the world....

prompts: first meeting or first date?

She looked like someone who appeared in every one’s dreams to tell them good news. Right in the middle of the ballroom, Lady Mito Uzumaki, who was wearing a velvet red off shoulder evening gown and masquerade mask stood astounded at the tall figure walking towards her, wearing a crimson suit and matching masquerade mask.  

“May I have this dance Lady Uzumaki?” He holds his hand out to her with a knowing smile, ‘How did he find out my identity? Must be my hair color.’

“Yes, you may.” She rests her palm in his and was pulled close to him as he wraps an arm around her waist.

So they danced and danced. They made quite the picture, two blurs of red spinning around in the center of the ballroom. 

With his smooth dancing skills, she became enamored by him and longed to know who he really is.

When the clock struck midnight, everyone took off their masks and who Mito found underneath the mask of her partner made her gasp.

“Nice to finally meet you Lady Mito.” The man gives a chaste kiss on her hand.

“Like wise Lord Hashirama.”

hi there, i was wondering if you could share how you made your anko icons?? they're my absolute FAVE, and i want to try to make icons like that for konan!

no problem! (ill put it under the cut jic)

to start, i really just looked for (preferably decent-sized panels), and then drew over it to get clean lines (a lot of the time, scanned pages might be a little small to work, so in that circumstance i sized up the image which makes inking over more important so it’s not fuzzy)

after that, i just filled in color like i would with any drawing

and this isn’t always how i shade nor is it how id tell you to shade if you have your own way, but for shading i just used this light pinkish color on the side with the layer on multiply (but messing around w/ the hue can be fun. some drawigns look better with something more purple or blue!

last, i just used clipping layers to color the lineart in places! i like to do that with drawings and edits like this bc it can make the lines look softer, i think!

its funny because at first when i read naruto, i literally didnt get why everyone LOVED the akatsuki. i didnt. i just really loved konan and konan only and the ame kids. but once i got around to it, i ended up warming up to the other members and just sort of embraced all of them.they were done so dirty just like how the jinchuuriki were. i wish we got to see more into them and their backstories (like we got a few insights but not.... a lot)  and i pray we get a spin off comic-novel WHATEVER just to see more into it. i just wish the madara and obito stuff didnt overshadow all their efforts and to always remind ourselves that the akatsuki started off as a way to help the world and to try to bring nations together to stop war that was created by three orphans from ame. :”)
