Samsung sold more smartphones than all of its top competitors combined… again

Samsung once again found itself atop the smartphone industry with global handset shipments in the first quarter of 2014 that climbed nearly 20 million units compared to the same quarter last year. Now that all major smartphone vendors have issued their results, market research firm Strategy Analytics on Tuesday released its global smartphone estimates for the first quarter of the year.

Nokia said that due to an ongoing tax dispute its Indian mobile phone handset plant was unlikely to be included in a deal due to be concluded on Friday for the sale of its global handset business to Microsoft.
