Regardless of political leanings or stances, I can honestly admit that on Tuesday (ok maybe Wednesday morning) I saw what I thought was impossible become possible. Why? All because of what I would call assumptions. For the sake of clarity, I define an “assumption” as a prediction made based on the reality of what one knows to be true. For example, I assume that on Thanksgiving Day I'm going to eat a big meal. What I know to be true is that every year my family throws down when it comes to food. I’m definitely not about to come to dinner full, because my assumption is that 2 weeks from today (yup, only 2 weeks left) there will be plenty to eat. So it's not to say that it's always wrong to make an assumption, because there are times when they are helpful. But what about the times when they are not?
What about the times when we assume things about people? When we assume what they believe, how they think, how they feel, or even what their actions will be. Or better yet, what about when you're the one people are making assumptions about? When others assume what you think, how you feel, and what your actions will be. If someone says, "Black Lives Matter" the assumption could be they are divisive. If someone says, "I support Trump", the assumption could be that they are inherently racist. Assumptions, not facts. To simply put it, some predictions are just wrong.
We are complex human beings created in the image of our complex Almighty Creator. He's been blowing minds since the beginning of creation, and some how I don't think He's done yet! As helpful as assumptions are, don't allow them to keep you in a box. I know some of you are over the "just trust God statements", but I'm not. I wouldn't be where I am and I wouldn't have broken out of my own boxes of limitations without my trust in Him. So, yes, I will say trust God. Trust Him with your dreams, trust Him with your destiny, and trust Him with the future. Remember that no matter where you stand, always stand encouraged.
With love from the ONE up above,
P.S. Only because I can't assume that you already know about, and have already registered for the PHENOMENAL conference taking place on November 19, I'll just say visit www.timetomoveforward.org
