Jim is alien royalty AU!

1)     Sam took up the mantle of King the moment hemarried Aurelan. Winona was stupidly happy to step down from her position asQueen Regent so she could return to her position at the head of the Stellar DefenseForce. Jim tried to follow her, even though he was just 14 at the time. She didnot allow him.

2)     He made oh so many newspaper headlines in theensuing years throwing public fits- incarceration, destruction of property,wild partying… the time he spent in one of their colonies on the moon was… notcovered. Of course, all records of that colony hardly existed in public vieweither, so- there’s that.  He hasn’t beenallowed to leave the atmosphere of Feiga since, enflaming his desire to escape.

3)     The Enterprise appears over Feiga when he’s 23.  It is helmed by Captain Pike. Other membersof the going away party sent by Winona to meet Sam- King George XII, whatever- includeSpock, an alien of curiously subdued nature that stands out sharply against thecolorful and energetic bustle of Feiga’s capital city, Yures Daw. (Ittranslates roughly to Silver Tree. Yures is a species of tree native,obviously, to Feiga. A typical form of this flora has a lifespan of almost a millenniumbut are usually quite dark of bark), Dr Boyce, a friendly, intuitive older man, and a stoic woman he only comes to know as “Number One”

4)     He causes an intergalactic incident when he slipsaway from his escort during a kindly-offered tour of the Enterprise’s lesssensitive areas, fakes a transport down to the planet and hides on the ship. Heeven steals a yellow uniform, the devious bastard, though he had no chance.Everyone on the ship knows everyone, and what’s more… there happen to be twoand a half stripes on the sleeves, dead giveaway.

5)     Winona may not be on his side, but Sam is. He acceptsdiplomats to work on a provisionary trade agreement between Feiga and theFederation, possibly an entry into the Federation itself in a few decades… ifthey’ll allow one of their high-profile citizens to join Starfleet. (Guesswhich one.)

That one AU where Spock was on the shuttle with Jim at the beginning of 2009 and Bones was an instructor at Starfleet Medical!

1) Jim likes to see how often he can illicit ‘human’ emotional reactions out of Spock, his roommate. He doesn’t push too hard... well, it is Jim, but he tries not to be too much of an asshole about it. He counts eyerolls and little smirks- and as Jim tells it (to no one), Spock smiles (tiny little things) a whole lot more than one might expect.

2) Jim meets Bones first at an off-campus bar. His older than even the graduating cadet class, and he feels so out of place with them, but McCoy is a soul that makes sense to him. Mostly they run into each other there... until Jim’s second year, when his classes are less theory and more practice, and he starts aiding in the hand-to-hand practicums... At first he gets bounced around but after a while people call for Dr. McCoy whenever Jim lands at medical. Bifold reason. It’s good for his classes to see ways in which to deal with resisting patients. Also, because nobody else has the patience, and he seems to listen to McCoy more than anyone else. Though he refuses to call him by his name.

3) Spock and Uhura’s courtship starts because Gaila tells her about ‘this Vulcan in my science classes’ and Nyota seeks him out so she can practice her Vulcan with a native speaker. Jim is 99% sure Nyota doesn’t realize he can also speak rudimentary Vulcan (though Spock tells him his accent is atrocious, when asked) because she has a lot of rather personal conversations with Spock while he’s in the room. He’s sure Spock has a sense of humor, because he hasn’t told Nyota Jim can definitely understand a good chunk of their talks. He’s pretty sure Spock’s waiting to see what causes him to out himself.

4) Speaking of outing himself, Pike outright laughs in his face when Jim asks if there’s a way to volunteer as a practice test subject for Medical practicums. “Are you stalking a med student?” “No!” “...good god James what did you get into now?”

5) Jim doesn’t make captain after the Vulcan incident. Neither does Spock. They’re Chief Tactical and Science officers respectively, but not captain or even commander. Pike keeps his position. The first officer? Number One. She rejected a posting in the primary fleet when she found out her long-time senior officer was getting to captain the shiniest, newest ship in the fleet.
