v: there is peace; there is passion
When she was young, promising Force Sensitive Alana Bloom was taken from Yavin 4, removed from a poor family upon being found her gift for reading the emotions of others is not simply a knack or a talent for empathy. This understanding was a link into the Force, and so, as Force Sensitives found by the Jedi, would grow to learn their religions and their teachings. The Jedi Master who had found her was Hannibal Lecter, a curious and clever Jedi with a broad intellect and a cool, measured countenance that seemed abundantly to measure his wisdom.
A little older than the other Younglings and therefore a little more unpolished, she grew into teenage years, imbued heavily with the sound of hollow wrath that presented in particularly rooted emotions of anger and resentment. In her Master’s infinite wisdom, it was suggested she measure her skill with the saber to temper the deadliness of these emotions, though Hannibal had never adhered to the Jedi way of peace without passion, and passed onto his young Padawan that she should feel her feelings and channel them in ways appropriate. This, with the help of Master Windu at great, lengthy talks, helped her to harness an understanding of Vaapad, a style of saber dueling to channel harshly negative emotion into combat and not elsewhere.
She would grow to befriend Anakin, closely so, gain a romantic interest in one of Padme’s handmaidens. But it is not the way of a Jedi to marry or to love, so quietly the young Jedi Knight swept the feeling away, and settle instead on relentlessly teasing the young man she had grown to consider a storm brother, a term he had taught her had its meaning on his homeworld.
It took a long time before Hannibal’s turn to the Dark Side, though it was understood he had been there the entire time, choosing to adhere to Sith ideals instead of the Jedi way he had been raised under. When the attempt to intervene occurred, Alana found herself grievously wounded, rebuilt by an Anakin already slipping into his own rage. Created of prosthetic parts– spine supplements, a droid-based right leg, a mechanical hand, and a mechanically replaced hip– she had seen the worst that one could do, betrayed heavily by the one who she had considered an absolute everything to her. Heavy-hearted, she turned mostly to meditation and understanding, riddled with turmoil, questions about whether or not her Master’s teachings had also tainted her.
This indecision and seed of doubt only increased and Anakin descended into violence, a tightly tucked turn that destroyed a Jedi order Alana had only gotten older to doubt and to doubt and to doubt. Order 66 carried out, she had managed to escape to the furthest possible reaches of the universe, living in total seclusion under a feeling of fear and suffocating isolation. A connection to what seemed like all the pain in the galaxy has worn her down enough, but there has always been whispering of a rebellion, and an old Jedi slowly getting older doesn’t know yet how how to hope.
