Black Marked Soul Playlist: Chapter 8
Happy Sunday! Hope you all have enjoyed the story and these Playlists so far! I’ve certainly enjoyed making them with @itsindiansummer13. So sad to be leaving this little world for a bit, but happy to venture on to another with my dear friend. Songs for Chapter 8’s playlist include:
1) Older by Sasha Sloan (this song doesn’t fit extremely well for this chapter, but I’ve listened to it on repeat for the last week for some reason, so it’s going on this 😂)
2) I’m God by Clams Casino, Imogen Heap
3) Be My Mistake by The 1975
4) Be Your Love by Bishop Briggs
5) Please Keep Loving Me by James TW
6) Can’t Help Falling in Love by Kina Grannis
Bonus:
7) No Guidance by DSharp (this absolutely does not go with anything in this chapter, but I’ve been a wee bit obsessed with this guy AND the electric violin/violin hip hop for quite some time now, so it’s a little treat just for me :-))

... And we’re all reading Double-Booked, right?
Right.
Embers
There’s the faint smell of cigarette smoke lingering in the hospital atrium and inexplicably, Betty’s mouth waters. She pictures her teenage bedroom, her teenage boyfriend clambering up a ladder to kiss her goodnight, the smile on her teenage face in the mirror when he’d gone home after saying I fucking love you, Betty Cooper.
She wonders what that girl would make of all of this, having believed that with the coming of adulthood everything would be so much less complicated.
Ironic really then, that the simplest period of her life was when she ran away to some nowhere town with Jughead Jones.

Black Marked Soul: Chapter 7
He tries so hard to get it right, but in the end, his last name will always be his undoing.
Or, the bet on her virginity was just the start, and moving on isn’t quite as easy as it seems.

Black Marked Soul: Chapter 7 (sneak peek)
The bag she’d packed the previous night is stowed away at the back of her closet, and she pulls it out, adding her toothbrush and the packet of birth control pills from her bedside drawer. A minute or so later, her phone vibrates with a text from Jughead to let her know he’s made it out of the trailer park without his dad seeing. There are excited butterflies fluttering in her stomach and she pushes firmly at her palms to quell the giddiness in her bones.
She’s never done anything like this before: would’ve never dared back in New York (had never wanted to anyway) and she thinks, maybe, it’s like something she might read about in a book and wish to happen to her. Except, tonight, it is happening to her.
Eventually, between the gently swaying branches of the elm tree that sits on the border between her yard and that of Archie Andrews, Betty sees Jughead walking towards the house. He’s switched the ‘s’ t-shirt he so often wears in favour of a black wife beater, and her mouth twitches at the sight of him: dark jeans, dark hair, dark ink running across so much of his skin.
He grins up at her before retrieving the ladder from its place inside the garage. Instead of waiting at the bottom like she expects him to however, he climbs upward to her open window, kisses her while still on the outside of the house and Betty’s toes are scrunching against the carpet, and then ducks into her bedroom.
“You ready?”
