My opinions on my favorite characrers on JoostJoe's series of "I tricked my friends into my minecraft ARG" and "I tricked this server into my Minecraft ARG" cuz i've been making theories of it for four days straight and i'm going crazy! :]]
(also, this post had more grammar mistakes and typos than normally, but in my defense, it's not my first language anyways and i got a headache)
Snarky: BRO WAS RIGHT FROM BEGGINING!! I love paranoic characters so much (probably bc i'm very paranoic too), and i love the way his paranoia was portrayed. Would also like to add that his POV also helped me with a lot of theories so he instantly became one of my favorites. Also bc his skin is very pleasing to look at, like, it's so cool i might make a fanart of it soon fr. Love his dynamic with dice too. ANYWAYS, love the good version of purple guy but minecraft !!
Dice: THE DIVA!!!! Honestly, even tho i understand that the dilemas were pretty much an invincible force and an unmoving object colliding or however the saying goes, i loved her opinions so much. Like, fr, why are they following the bizarre creature??? Even if they're gonna die anyways, wouldn't it be worse to just die following the game of a chaos entity? (Again, both options were pretty terrible i understand them). ANYWAYS, i loved her character so much, and the way she was always looking out for the symbol, she was always so fast to catch on the things that were going on. Not only that, but even with all of this going on, she was the one who showed the most empathy in the video (at least i think so) Dice you'll always be famous to me!!
Fancy:
Literally the chocolate ice cream of this fandom (aka the one everyone likes and glazes), BUT IM A BASIC PERSON SO WHATEVER!!!
Aside from the fact that he's very smart, one of the things that made me like him the most was actually the end of the the sequel, when he was basically like "bro idgaf about your decisions, i'm jumping and that's it". It had quite the contrast after he spent half of the first video like "NO dont go there", "WAIT WAIT WAIT that looks dangerous" DONT DO THAT???", like, he sounded like he was just trying to solve a "silly" situation to go home as soon as possible (as silly as one can be facing a chaos entity), and in the sequel, bro straight up sounded like a war veteran. Or like, do you guys know these old asf wizard mentor figures on fantasy shows?? That's fancy bro (respectfully).
Also, quick observation, but seeing his dynamic (of quick interactions) with Dice made me think that he probably sees his past self on her. Not exactly because of the ideals (since Fancy was quite literally helping the narrative and Dice was trying to end it with them trying to come back and go against Nyarlathotep), but because of her personality. Anyways maybe i'm just trippin BUT TELL ME YOU GUYS SEE THE VISION!!!
(even tho fancy probably sounds very suspicious to Dice. She seems to still care for him tho so yeah i love their dynamic i feel like they could be good friends if they got out of that living hell alive)
Rasse: I actually love his tired normal person that was forced to enter a cult vibe (because that's what happened). Like, fr, dude had the most normal mindset out of the five and he still had to enter a mf cult and then had to fight for his life bc he wasnt worth of it anymore. Like come on that's a Yuuji Itadori type of shit. I do wanna know (DO I WANNA KNOWWW) if he actually wanted Fancy to not continue all of that crap at that book they found on the tunels at the sequel, or if i'm just very dumb. Probably the second option but yeah. Anyways, i felt really bad for him, but i also kinda of like his end? It's accurate to the situation yk?
"I tricked my friends into my minecraft ARG" and "I Tricked this server into my minecraft ARG"
(This is a big post, read at your own risk of getting your eyes tired lol)
First of all, i'd like to make a special thanks to my friend @itsthe-forme for helping me on this one and hearing me out for my crazy theories, youre the best!
Theory one: THE SYMBOL
The T symbol with two dots we see at both videos.
(this one is from the very ending of the second video)
My theory is that this symbol is representing the "Take a Look" take Joost has in the first video of the series. You can see it on his comment and he says it on the start of the video.
(okay so i just discovered that his comment was edited and it's not appearing anymore BUT HE DID SAID IT something like "if you feel confused, Take a Look")
Honestly, this is more of a design based theory, but if you think about it, the sign has the T for Take and the two dots, that look like eyes, that could possibly represent the Look. So, Take a Look.
(something like that lol. Also this sounded way less stupid when i got this idea. I look like an idiot now. Were all going to ignore that)
Also, i don't think it's a coincidence the symbol appears at every confusing new place, indicating the players have to Take a Look. They have to search, they have to see it. They have to look at everything they can. And also, the second part of this theory:
The T symbol indicates the presence of Nyarlathotep (as stated in one of the books from the first video and in one of the codes from the chests in the second, Nyarlathotep IS in that world. It's there),because again, it appears at every crossroad, every new place and situation they have gone into.
Theory two: THE CYCLE (And the Black Figure)
I'm pretty sure this isn't a theory anymore cuz it's basically canon, but this theory states that every new player is a new cycle, and every new part of this series is just us having more questions and more cycles, seeing new players falling into the same death traps and scenarios as before. But now... What does it takes to break this cycle? As Rolldice said, they were quite LITERALLY following a death path. And as Fancy also stated, no matter the choice they make, they die. So, is the cycle even possible to break? Do they have to fight Nyarlathotep or what? And then again, who is the player in the thumbnails?
Both thumbnails for both videos have a black figure of a player on them. In the first video, this figure was shown as the one who came before Rasse. They had built that path. Okay. That's fine. We knew this was a cycle.
But now...why are they still here? We know they possibly started that cycle, but why are they still there? Did Nyarlathotep not get tired of them like how it got to Rasse? What happened?
Or even....
Nyarlathotep can posses people's bodies. Would it be too crazy to assume it got over the body of the first player who started it all, and it is now watching them from afar? Is that why both of the thumbnails say "Did you see it?" As if, did you see it there? In the back? Watching them? And then..."Did it see you?".
It's watching you know, because now, you've saw it. And as also stated in one of the books from Rasse, after you see it, it will be seeing you back.
Another option is that "it" isnt refering to Nyarlathotep this time, but rather the cycle itself, as in, "did you notice you've been following their steps?"
AAAND honestly, ik this us optmistic, but they might have broke the cycle in the sequel. Now, i havent had time to watch JoostJoe's new videos (fake aah fan ik), so no idea if he followed the same concepts or not, but assuming he didnt i am pretty sure Fancy and Azulite_ ended it by uuh... Willingly jumping on the void! How wonderful, really. Okay but fr now, it could happen, since no one stayed on Rasse's position as it was supposed to be.
Theory Three: THE POPPIES
There aren't any direct connections between poppies and Nyarlathotep,BUT, according to this site right here:
"The poppy is one of the most symbolically overloaded flowers in the Western tradition — carrying meanings of sleep, death, fertility, grief, and political memory simultaneously"
What caught my attention here is that this flower in the video was used near graves/books of people who are apparently dead. Also because it's meaning also leans towards "grief" in which i found very interesting to note too. But it is still quite weird, since in the very end of the sequel, we had the whiter rose in the black and white tunnels, which then should technically represent death. Now, is when we go back to the Victorian flower language (still on the same source, just a bit down):
"Red = consolation; white = sleep and oblivion; yellow = wealth and success"
And also this one:
"Red poppies carry the dominant meaning in Western tradition: remembrance, consolation, the blood of the fallen."
That last part got me. Blood of the fallen. It does sound oddly specific but also makes a lot of sense, since the cycle continues, assuming that everyone who once travelled trough Nyarlathotep's cursed worlds is dead wouldn't be that far away from the truth. On theory.
Still, another thing that was still intriguing me was that, again on the same site, it had mentioned about poppy being an offering/related to Gods/Goddesses:
"Ancient Egyptians associated the poppy with Osiris, god of the dead, and placed poppy seed pods in tombs."
"Greek mythology formalised this connection through Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death), the twin sons of Nyx (Night), both of whom were associated with poppies. Morpheus, god of dreams, was often depicted with a crown of poppies. Demeter, goddess of the harvest, was associated with both poppies and agricultural fertility — in classical art she frequently carries poppy heads alongside wheat sheaves."
But then again it didnt sound like none of the old players were trying to make an offering, that is, unless they trought that making an offering would calm down whatever entity was cursing them at the time. Its not that crazy to assume that either, and even tho worshiping Nyarlathotep only came as a concept itself in the books of the sequel (as following it after "seeing it" isnt completelly worship to my perspective) theres still a chance people would have done that before too.
Imo, im going more for the blood of the fallen thing, but all of the other interpretations i mentioned are still up in my mind, really.
Theory four: NYARLATHOTEP
Now this one is a bit tricky. See, even tho JoostJoe was playing as it in the first video very clearly, in the end of the sequel, he went to the world the players were into and he was... confused? Which shouldn't really happen when you're a chaos entity right? You don't really forget about emotionally torturing a bunch of people who just wanted to play some minecraft right? Right, unless youre not the one doing all of that and you just got possesed, which is the only explanation that makes sense in my head. Ik this theory is quite short but i don't really got a lot to say about it, that end got me quite surprised and i really haven't been able to find a better hypothesis
Theory five: NOT-FANCY-CHEESE
Sorry for the name, since his name is fancy cheese i trought of that in the rush of making theories. Sorry, english dictionary, ik you expected more of me. Anyways:
One thing that gets me quite intrigued is how Fancy kept "getting away" from the odds of the narrative. When theres an eldritch being trying to destroy your group, being the lucky one is never truly about luck. You see, in a way im not sure how to explain, it felt like Fancy survived for way too long for someone in that type of story for it to be "for no reason". You see, Rasse survived and made it to the sequel, but that had a plot explanation: he was on Nyarlathotep's blessing, he saw it, and just like that, repeated the cycle. But now, if Fancy wasnt a follower of Nyarla or something related to it, then why did he survive? Why and how did he came back? You know, i really feel like the simple answer is literally:
Because he's Fancycheeseman.
And even tho it sounds silly its not on the "hes just like that" way, its on the "youre pushing the narrative further than it necessarelly needs to go" way. You see, Fancy's intelligence and curiosity were one of the big fuels of leading the narrative foward. The moment Dice made a comment about how they were just falling for it's game and they had no actual reasons to continue to play it, Fancy replied they would die either way. Consciously (that such a bad word to write i prolly made a typo) or not, Fancy IS pushing Nyarlathotep's plan foward, even tho he sounds tired of it in the end of the sequel, he did push it foward in the rest of it, there is no doubt of that. And also, even tho he 100% wasnt the only one doing that he was the main fuel so that could happen.
It wouldnt surprise me if it he was actually working with Nyarlathotep in the end of it all tho. We know Fancy is willing to hide some secrets (like hiding from everyone that he knew about Rasse and that he was the one writing the books and all), so it is possible that this was one of them. Either way, Nyarlathotep had a reason to bring him back for his game.
Theory six: CORRUPTED WORLD
Not even sure if this counts as theory, BUT... Nyarlathotep is the entity of pure chaos. It destroys everything alongside it, just for fun, and toys with humanity as a hobby. It wouldnt surprise me if what made the rooms more and more weird and corrupted looking as the players got closer and closer to it, was the fact that the world itself gets corrupted the more Nyarlathotep interacts with it, or something similar to that. The white and black rooms looking like another plain (is that the right word?) of existence, the dimension itself looking quite wrong, places leading directly into the void, everything looks out of place.
THE END
Thank you for hearing my hyperfixation resume on this! Even if all of the theories are wrong, i am really happy with my own dedication on this, and very happy i got to watch these videos to get to know this amazing story. The more i got deeper and deeper into it, the more i realized how much effort JoostJoe really put into the videos. As a writer myself, i really admire his works. Please let me know if you guys got anh other theories or corrections, id love to hear them! Have a good time and thanks for reading :)
Me: peacefully watching the credits of "i tricked this server into my minecraft ARG" bc i was currently having a brainstorm and i have a rule of always watching ARG videos till the very end
Me: oh okay let's watch if for five times more until my bad eyesight catches something
So, guys. About the whole analysis and theory post i was going to make about ITMFIMMA and ITTSIMMA, i'm not sure if i'm going to post anymore.
(explanation bellow and technically a small vent)
In the day the first video came out, my dog also died. I remember that later that same day i continued to watch it, and it was a distraction. Ofc, just bc i was using the whole lore thing to keep my mind distracted, it doesn't means the lore for itself isn't crazy good writing, but ofc, bc of the way i was consuming it, it became something bad for me.
Still, naturally, i watched the sequel too, and even tho i was getting better in some way, it all came back after i started making theories again and coming back to the ones i had already done. I'm not saying i'm never posting the theory thing bc i still really like then and the ARG for itself, but yeah, i need a break :P
