Into the Wolf’s Mouth | Original Story Aesthetics
He stuck out from the crowd like a bolt of lightning flashing against the skies. Everyone else wore flamboyant costumes colored in all shades of the rainbow, but he wore all white, even in his gloves and mask. He stood tall with a firm jaw, clean-shaven—a man of wealth—and rich and deep brown hair swept back with care. He glistened beneath the glow of the fireworks like a pearl in an ocean of weeds.
“Oh, I see him. There—” Orietta pointed with flare “—the man in white.”
“I-I was looking to the sky.”
“Cazzate,” Orietta howled before laughing wildly. “You were gawking after that man as if you were starving, and he held your last meal.”
Katuscia grinned from ear-to-ear and pinched her lower lip beneath her teeth. “He is quite stunning.”
“Stunning?” she cackled, and her laughter matched the energy of the fireworks erupting overhead. “Men don't stun you, Katuscia. They bore you.”
She set her hand over her heart and set her eyes on the man in white. “He doesn't. He makes me wonder.”
Venice. 1463. During Carnevale, nineteen year old Katuscia Alessi begins an affair with a local (and married) nobleman. To keep their affair silent, she frequents his bed only at night and leaves before morning.
Through five months, they enjoy their private times together, always meeting in secret to avoid the disgrace of being found out. But one morning in the pale blue of pre-dawn light, Katuscia strolls through the idle and empty streets on her way home when Anthony’s wife and two soldiers corner her.
His wife threats her, vowing she’ll never again see Anthony before leaving her alone with two armed soldiers. But raised in a family of thieves, Katuscia is fast and agile, able to avoid the groping hands of the soldiers until the fight turns deadly. Prying one of their weapons free, Katuscia strikes without thinking, and she doesn’t register the blood on her hands until the soldiers hit the ground, dead.
Terrified, she retreats to the only place she feels is safe: Anthony’s. But when she arrives, Anthony isn’t alone. His wife, Amedea is waiting with more soldiers ready to haul her away as a criminal of the city, a murderer in Venice.
And Anthony refuses to offer any objection beneath the stern stare of his accusing wife.
Into the Wolf’s Mouth (formerly Iron Touch) focuses on the story of Katuscia’s imprisonment under the demands of a crossed wife, her march through the Bridge of Sighs to the cells below, her torture endured at the hands of the other prisoners, and her rise to escape and seek the life that was stolen from her.

Into the Wolf’s Mouth | Excerpt
Words: 246 Setting: Venice, Italy - 1460s Summary: Isaiah & Katuscia on the rooftops after their grand escape.
“Where will you go?”
“To see my family.”
“Roma,” he noted with an air of intrigue. “A beauty.”
“You’ve seen her?”
“When I wandered too far from home, yes. My family’s farm is outside the city.”
“You would make a fine guide, then.”
He cut his eyes to her. “Are you asking me to join you?”
She met his stare. “Are you offering?”
He laughed, but his nerves altered the sound. His voice cracked around his words as he struggled to find the ones to speak. In the end, he turned his eyes back to the swollen moon overhead, but the smile on his face remained.
“I find I don’t want to be away from you.”
She drew her legs into her chest and wound her arms around her knees.
“Believe me,” he said with a chuckle. “I’m as surprised as you. I didn’t expect to fall for someone I met in a men’s prison.”
She snorted a laugh and swept her hands through her hair, all too aware of how close he sat at her side. But she kept her eyes on him, still stunned to see him so clearly beneath the sleepy blues of the night sky. No more iron bars blocking his eyes from hers; no more shadowed cells where she could hide from his sight, and no more need or want to hide from him.
“You’re strong and brave and bold. You’re all the things too many are too afraid to be.”

Non-woven materialsare usually well hidden and are therefore not visible. However, if you are looking for them, you can find them everywhere: as a lining in winter jackets, as a padding in sofas, as a soundproofing mat in cars, as insulation in house walls, as a filter in kitchen exhaust hoods, as a cosmetic pad in bathrooms or as a separating layer in electric cables. Highly absorbent non-woven…
