Last friday’s surprise concert of I/II aka Ivan Antunovic, legendary one man scene from Zagreb who is active in music scene for more than 15 years. His latest release (via TWR) "Earthquakes Usually Come Around At Night" is a clash of minimal electronic, funk, soul and pop sound.

»"Statues" is the fourth piece off the mini-album - here is the original version that tells a disturbing story of women who survived the acid attack (a sadistic common practice in the Middle East). The song is directly inspired by a disturbing series of portraits taken by Emilio Morenatti of Associated Press, which can still be traced here: http://vizkultura.hr/unakazivanje-zena-u-pakistanu-kao-nor…/ (sorry, no English translation).The song itself sympathises with these poor women, telling a story from an equally disturbing "extreme art" angle - the victim ending up a prisoner-for-life, the perpetrators' sick "body of work".«
