“Bonnie” is the sixteenth song in the 2011 Broadway musical Bonnie & Clyde. With music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde) and lyrics by Don Black (Sunset Boulevard), the book was written by Ivan Menchell (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) based on the lives of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. The show was nominated for two Tony Awards. This song is performed by Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) as Clyde Barrow.
Highlights from Bonnie and Clyde rehearsals so far...
I’m playing Blanche (one of my dream roles!!!!)
*Our Clyde and Buck are best friends/practically brothers in real life, so when you get the two of them together they actually are Buck and Clyde. (Especially during “When I Drive”)
*Our Emma Parker told me how she’s often typecast as either “prostitutes who die” or “moms”, and I have since suggested she play Fantine in Les Mis since she is both.
*Bookwriter Ivan Menchell has liked/commented on several on my Instagram posts about the show so far so...ACK!
*I toured the Missouri State Penitentiary where Blanche served her sentence, and one of my guides actually has tickets to closing night!
*During “You Love Who You Love” I’m so used to singing it when I’m home alone I’m having a hard time just singing my part only.
*Both Bonnie and are older than our Clyde and Buck, so we make a lot of couger jokes.
*”Is that a gun in your pants or OH SHOOT THAT’S A GUN!”
