hi there, I need some advice from SPNfamily hive-mind, and your blog and followers seems to attract so much positivity, I think this would be a good place to ask. So, a friend is going to JIB this year, and as I could never afford to go to a convenation myself (T_T) she very nicely agreed to give a small gift from me to J2M. Now, I know what to make for Jared (beanie with the ; mark) and for Misha (rainbow origami cranes) but no idea about Jensen. I wanna make something is aro-flag colours (cont

(2)cause Dean has been such an inspiration and a source of strength for me as an aro, but I don't want it to be too-obviously aro, cause he's not always open to non-straight interpretations of Dean. I mostly crochet, but I can also make friendship bracelets or embroidery. So, I was hoping either you or your followers could help with some ideas for things he'd like and/or would make him laugh (I'm all for being cheeky as well). Thanks and keep being awesome!

First, sorry this has taken me a few days to get to, I wasn’t online much over the weekend...

But, I love the ideas you have here. I think they’re all lovely gifts for the cast to get. I understand your fear about having an aro interpretation of Dean to Jensen, but I don’t think, in the context of your gift, that it’s much (if any) of an issue. Old ideas die hard, and ideas and opinions associated with him early in the series may not apply now. Jensen has undergone quite a bit of growth over the last 15 years with the influence of Danneel and Misha (presumably others, as well), and at the very least, I think he understands that someone’s opinion of his character doesn’t necessarily have to be one he adopts.

That being said, maybe everyone has some other ideas they can toss over to you, just to give you more options, so I’ll quit talking and open it to the floor.

Nobody's wife by Anouk was my anthem even before I realized I was aro. I also really like songs that seem to be about romantic love but are actually about friendships like Sway by the Kooks and You Stole The Sun From My Heart by Manic Street Preachers. Then there are songs like Wire to Wire by Razorlight and Leave This Island by Maximo Park which were probably written about romantic love but for me they are about my bond with my brother. I actually made an aro-friendly playlist a while back

hahahaha your cat stories are awesome! Maine Coons are so pretty, never had one though (they probably won't survive the weather where I'm at). But anyway - I just saw Fan Fiction for the first time and I NEED PEOPLE TO TALK WITH CAUSE THIS WAS SO GOOD. And, you said we can always invade your ask so......

To the anon writing a non-american aro character - could you expand a bit more? Where is your character from? south america, north africa, russia, japan... each of these would have differences between them so it's important to know. Also - is your character oriented in anyway and if so to which gender(s)? This is important because some cultures are different when it comes to platonic affection between people of the same gender and other genders, so that could be important too

For the movie list - Shazam! (2019). Is has zero romantic plot or even a hint of one (the only thing I could classify as even remotely relating to romance is that there is a married couple), I don't even think we see a teenage crush. "Instead" there's great focus on family, chosen vs genetic, as well as friendship. I especially like the strong emphasis in this movie about brotherhood/sibling love and care. I'd give it 4/5 stars. It's not a masterpiece but still very enjoyable and fun

I do like being aro and 100% accept it, but I could change it if I could cause the way the world is built rn, especially in my not-exactly-first-world-country is almost impossible for me to actually build a life. Our economy is based on the assumption and encouragement of everyone getting married at some point to the smallest details (for example married people get a higher disability financial aid). My friends would sideline me eventually in favor of their romantic partners, and seems to me

more and more clear that I don't really have allies in this fight. LGBT are throwing us under the bus when fighting for their own rights, essentially expanding "heteronormativity" instead of breaking it for the benefit of all of us. It's so lonely and so hard and basically. the world isn't built for me and no one seems to care enough to help change it.

Maybe Cap Marvel spoilers............................but that movie is like 99.9% romance free! even the one nod there is to romance is part of family dynamics so really can be read in different ways. And more important the fact that there's no romance is never played to be a problem or something to be a code for a negative treat of the characters. They are just people being who they are, heroes or villains, loving their friends and their families and their pets with zero fucks about romance YAY

if you were a cat, what weird presents would you bring to your human?

as I'm spending the majority of my days with 3 giant Maine Coons, I think I've eventually become one of them, so the subjunctive isn't that far off reality xD

but I honestly can't think of anything weirder than the 'presents' my cats have brought me over the years. from a dry pretzel, over entirely unharmed birds/mice/snails/rats/moles/worms (which aren't too keen on being trapped inside a house btw, so they try their darndest to escape while 3 giant cats and a big ass dog think it's the most entertaining and exciting thing ever - although, I very much prefer the unharmed prey to partially eaten animals, carefully draped on the last step of the stairs, so you most definitely step into mouse intestines first thing in the morning. barefoot.), to twigs and leaves, various types of fruit, clothing, one cat loves carrying Q-tips around, another cat carries a toy rope thingy in her mouth twice a day, walks upstairs to the second floor, and meows/yells at us with that thing in her mouth (she doesn't want us to play with her, she just... needs this?), then drops the rope after 20 minutes of howling and goes back downstairs (???)

so I really don't know what I'd bring 'my human' if I were a cat. probably nothing, I'd be a very lazy cat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
