“are you even breathing?” he woke you up, knocking softly on your head. “are you alive?”
“barely.” your stuffed nose, instable breaths and frequent coughing sessions witnessed otherwise.
“hey, i made you some tea.”
these moments you really loved him. those moments were forever, always, endless.
“i love you forever.”
he made a face, “you’re hallucinating.”
“i’m a teller of truth.”
he felt your temperature on your forehead. “yup. definitely hallucinating.”
you laughed, slapping his hand away. “stop it!”
he smiled softly at you. today he’d dressed in his usual attire - a shirt tucked into a jumper, light brown trousers which you hadn’t figured out what kind of fabric they were. stubble was subtly growing around his chin and jaw.
he placed down your cup of tea on the bed side table, sitting down beside you on the bed.
“you look so soft. like a teddy bear”, you took the opportunity to brush your fingers across his chin and neck.
“you look terrible.”
“thanks.”
“your temperature’s gone up since yesterday”, he sighed, a worried look on his face.
“i’m fine.”
“i don’t know if you are.”
he stood up, anxiously fixing his sweater, “i’m running down to the store to get you some medicin. and some chocolate for me.”
you tried your most charming smile. “sharing is caring.”
“how about ‘getting back to bed to stop worrying your anxious lover is caring’?”
anxious lover. those words made you get goosebumps. or perhaps it was the fever. “how about you get back into bed with me?”
he laughed, grabbing your hand and placing a kiss on it. “i’ll be back in a minute. in bed. with you.”
“you better.”
My 'write the prequel before writing the main story' plan is working out so far. Hopefully this is solid enough that I can use it as reference. I feel like I'm writing a mini memoir of my main characters, haha.
