♤ has your muse developed to be different from their canon selves through roleplay?

well. sort of ??  viv started off as… decidedly AU anyway, so it’s not so much that she developed away from canon as she started off that way. 

♧ any part of their canon portrayal you dislike?

hummmmm well i believe i’ve mentioned before that i’m not. a huge fan. of the movie overall, & i feel like the characterization of all the secondary characters, viv included, lacked depth, so there’s that ?  w/r/t musical canon i don’t. think there’s anything i actively dislike, so much as i just. wish there were more.

the supporting cast in the musical feels a lot more grounded in reality to me but ??  it’s still super sparse on the details. the only thing we know abt viv’s backstory is that she went to boarding school w/ warner  ( and some stuff per word of god abt viv feeling a lot of pressure to succeed & losing sight of whether she’s actually happy, altho even that still just hinted vaguely at there maybe being high expectations from home. )

which gets back to the last question, & the fact that ?  even the parts of viv’s backstory that aren’t obviously AU are still made up out of whole cloth. i’d just love to have had more to work w/ from the start.

✦ has your own interpretation changed from when you first began playing the character?

the magic stuff came. kind of out of nowhere quite a bit after i started writing viv  ( a bit after the first time around w/ this blog, iirc )  & it is @everybodyriise‘s fault entirely. she prompted me for a oneshot w/ viv doing magic and it. uh. stuck.

i also didn’t originally hc her as having aspd ?  that one developed more naturally but once i’d had the thought it refused to go away so. here we are.

HE thought the indignant SQUEALS of the wretchedthings as they steepedadded something NICE tothe ambient noise of thetea party—-but he’ll deferto HATTER’S judgementif she thinks otherwise.

The beams oxidize under the paint which then flakes off once there is nothing left to hold it in place, and then it seems to have come all of a sudden.

He tries to explain the jagged points of light that lock together instead of teeth when she’s inspired, or the way her voice oxidize s the more intense her emotions, but then he remembers that she is not the only thing that matters in the world.

and really. it wasn’t. the queen’s ANGER at her repeated strays from the land beyond the looking glass were no one’s fault but her own. STILL, she could not stop her eyes from darkening out of frustration.

reassured now that HATTER wasn’t a n g r y  with him, he lifted a hand to touch her shoulder—-fleetingly, feather- light-—the flash-fire guilt he’d felt when she became UPSET in the first place cooling into concern.

she COULDN’T be held to blame for her royal pain’s irrational behavior—- her position with the tea party came with RESPONSIBILITIES, and hatter had better sense than to NEGLECT them. it was the queen who had no understanding of OBLIGATION  or DUTY——one only had to look  for a mere second at an archive of her royal decrees to realize that !!
