Theory about Infinity War (under the cut)

Spoiler post - DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THIS MOVIE

So, I was chatting in the car with my parents on the way back from seeing the movie. I was an emotional wreck for the obvious reason of Bucky and Steve CRUSHING MY HEART.

However, we began talking about what Strange said, about their odds of winning. He went through 14 million (?) scenarios in the future and came back with 1 that they could win.

Now, we know Strange was not going to give up that Time Stone for a guy he just met, no matter what he was meant to protect it. But here’s the thing, what if the reason he’s giving up the Time Stone is because he knows what has to happen for that 1 chance of winning to work. Strange is a smart guy, he’s not just going to give it up because he knows what the consequences are. Thanos might get what he wants for the time being but it doesn’t mean he has won.

I think the quote Strange says before he disappears off the top of my head was “It has to be this way.”

Does it have to be that way so that they can get that 1 in 14 million chance of winning against Thanos? Food for thought.

This is actually my son, Anthony Edward Stark, sitting down and CRYING (YES SOMEONE FINALLY CRIED)

because he's fought like a damn hero and pushed to the limits (and holly shit the new armor is a thing of beauty and Tony fights like it was a damn extension of his body) to save everyone

because he's spent the whole movie parenting Peter Parker and trying to keep him safe and DON'T TELL ME THEIR INTERACTIONS WERE NOT DELIBERATELY PLAYED LIKE FATHER AND SON BC IT WAS

JUST TO HAVE THE KID DIE IN HIS ARMS!

So that's Tony Stark sitting down and CRYING because Peter Parker, his actual son, turned to ashes in his arms ALL THE WHILE BEGGING NOT TO GO.

AND THIS IS WHY I'M REALLY FUCKED UP ABOUT IW

This might be a bit of a spoiler, so I will tag it as such -- but it’s immensely gratifying that the antis who’ve seen Infinity War are crying bitter tears and calling it “Iron Man 6″ (um -- what was “Iron Man 5,” I wonder?? His spare 15 minutes in “Homecoming”? Antis are so ridiculous...). NOW I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT EVEN MORE.

But also -- as Anthony Russo was signing autographs for us yesterday at the premiere, I said (ONLY HALF JOKING) “Please don’t kill Tony Stark!” And he just looked at me with the biggest grin coupled with an unreadable expression in his eyes, so...I don’t know if that is good or bad, lol. Yikes.
