IXIDRON
by Antonio J. Manzanedo
I have a morph creature in play that was turned face down by Ixidron's ETB trigger, meaning that my opponent knows what that creature is. If I then play another morph creature face down, am I allowed to (for example) shuffle the two creatures and put them back on the table, so that my opponent does not know which one is the new one?
No.
All other players need to know the relative order in which your face down creatures entered the battlefield. If one or more of them were face up and turned face down by an effect like Ixidron, they have the right to know which face down creature was which face up creature.
Ixidron entering across from a nontoken Urabrask. Will it enter tapped?
Yes.
Before Ixidron enters the battlefield, we check to see what replacement effects need to be applied. There are two different replacement effects to apply: Ixidron’s and Urabrask’s, but these replacement effects apply to different sets of objects, so there’s no interaction between them and they’re all just applied harmoniously.
Ixidron will enter the battlefield tapped as all other nontoken creatures including Urabrask are turned face down. It’s weird, but that’s replacement effects for you.
Can melded creatures be turned face down with Ixodron?
No.
Neither can a card that’s part of a meld pair be turned face down.
Can ixidrons ability to flip a creature with lightning greaves equipped ?
Yes.
Ixidron’s ability doesn’t target anything, it just turns all other nontoken creatures face down. Spells and abilities can affect permanents without targeting them.
So I have a scenario with a question... So I'm playing EDH in a three player game (including me) and both my opponents have their commanders out I don't)!It comes to my turn and I cast Ixidron and it resolves. Are my opponents commanders now stuck on the field as 2/2s now, or can they send them to the command zone. Also if my Ixidron was to die, do the creatures flip back up or no?
The commanders stay face down on the battlefield. They’re not changing zones, so their controllers can’t send them back to the command zone. They’re still commanders and still deal commander damage, though. And no, the creatures don’t turn back face up when Ixidron leaves the battlefield.
Has this been done before?
